Has to be one of the most lacklustre rounds of football from a match up viewpoint.

Hard to get excited about any of the matches but in keeping with the impossible dream the following results are probably in our interest.

Richmond

Collingwood

Giants

Geelong

Lions v Hawks... draw

Saints

Carlton'

Eagles

Carlton supporters at work are telling me they want to lose so Bolton can get the sack. Essendon supporters would also prefer to lose so Worsfold is sacked. Tipping a draw for that one.

I would love to see carlton beat essendon. Bomberblitz will blow up.

It's strange to see Rhys Shaw coach tonight. I guess I still see him as that footy player that dropped the ball in the 2003 gf in the backline where Lynch picked it up tuned around and snapped a goal. But good luck to him.

They should just do a straight swap. :)

One has to ask sometimes if the AFL has it's match ticketing/promotions right.

North home game tonight against a team that claims 100,000 members (perhaps 200,000 plus supporters) but there is barely half a stadium full (25,000).

A team like North could make big money by promoting itself to the Tiges fans as a cheap way to see your team etc etc.

Then again the cynic in me tells me that these membership numbers are perhaps flakey to say the least.

Razor keeping the Tigers in the game I see. Is he a club member? Push in the back by Dusty, not paid, goal. Not Late bump paid for a goal, incorrect disposal on Cochin, not paid. Go Ray!

32 Wood looks very promising.  Early days but might become something very special.

Polec having a good night also.  Very creative and hard to tackle when he's in form and fit.

Razer loves to create a stir about himself by doing that. Craves the attention. Remember last week when he played one against us despite being 70m away? Had a [censored] eating grin on his face as he did it

Did the AFL not bring in a rule about paying a fifty if a player disposes of the ball and is wrestled- preventing them getting to the next contest..? the game is rife with pining blokes, holding, grappling, elbows to the chest of blokes on the ground..

Get a grip AFL.. game is a joke!

I think that watching him sometimes, but then remember he’s already 25 and has been around for 7 years already!  Probably never going to become much more than he is already so far into his career.

North looking decent tonight. Shows what a bit of hunger can do to a playing group. Goodwin seems too laid back most of the time. I want to see him fire up and get the players fired up.

Would it be possible for the commentators to speak about Cunnington without referring to him as a “hard nut”? We get it already.

Wow i can't recall seeing him that far back i'm shocked.  7 years is a long stint for 47 games.   About 6 games a year.  Looking at his history he's either been kept out by the likes of Waite and Daw or incurred injury after injury.  Hope he gets a decent run at it.  Remembering that the Pod came into the Cats premiership team very late at around 28 i believe.  Was considered the Falcon's most important goal kicker according to Norf's player profiles.

Does Ling know the rules? Any of them? He’s a [censored] moron.

He's a very, very good footballer 'Ethan'...and has been for a long time.

...all this hard nut stuff does him a disservice.

well for those who still believe in Santa Claus a Kangas win could be a good one for the MFC.

Must say Brown is expert at playing for frees and I mean that in a technical way.

Great seeing the Tigers lose.

Say what you will about Ben Brown, but his elbow has more forward craft than Tmac.

Richmond’s talent level again being exposed once their pressure falls away. Plodders all over the ground.

Wow, this is a smashing. Great captain’s game by Ziebell, absolute wrecking machine tonight.

Sounds like us ?

In a year when we can kick ourselves out of the games against the Eagles in Perth with half a team,  Tigers lose to a club that just sacked their coach, and Geelong, a team that we embarrassed in last years elimination final fund themselves sitting on top. This year was ours for the taking....

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
