We'll miss his outside run and speed in the Darwin humidity.

And given the ball will be on the deck quite a bit we'll also miss his ability to bend down and collect ground balls.

Might miss his elite pointing ability as well.

I haven't done a close comparison but is it the same posters who don't want him playing in the seniors that are now complaining that he's been suspended and therefore can't play in the seniors?

Is this what financial planners refer to as "transition to retirement"?

Hopefully with some returning from injury he will struggle to find a spot on form, and ... thanks Jordan but time is up.

Lewis has been a valuable addition. If both he and Jones don't go into 2020 we need to look at another mature age recruit if we believe we are anywhere near the window.

Let me ask... if you had given Lewis a two year contract in 2016 would you have given him another year at the end of 2018?

Garbage, we have got exactly what we drafted Lewis for maybe 1 year to long.  May, wait to 2020 he is one of the best kicking tall defenders in the competition, May, Lever, Hore add in Frost you have the base for a strong back 6, just need mids who can kick and run with forwards that can lead and mark and crumb and we are back.

He was a valuable addition to a young team that needed to know what it takes to win. But the way he is going about it this season is a sad way to end such an illustrious career. He deserves a better end, but he really isn’t helping himself get it.

I recall the last game against the Willies in Williamstown was shall we say rather rough and ready, most of the roug stuff coming from the hard nit Willie boys. It sounds to me Lewis stuck up for himself.

Posters on this site regularly amuse me. On the one hand everyone wants players to stand up for the Max, then they take the mickey out of a bloke who doesn't take c(r) ap from biffo heroes.

In the meantime regular offenders like Ablett and Fyffe walk away scot free...

Lewis has a history undisciplined acts, and has let us down on more than one occasion. i think its perfectly fair to be disappointed in his actions. Plus there is sticking up for people and then there is throwing punches.

I have been a defender of him, 2 years was a good fit, but he should never have played on into this year.

Ridiculous. Lewis has been a phenomenal get, and was a key driver in our success in the finals last year - and in helping install the hardness we needed to get there.

We wouldn't have got Lewis for 2 yrs...  and we had to put salary-cap space somewhere... rather than overpaying kids that hadn't deserved it then.    He was brought in to teach and direct,  and since he's been in the side,  we've improved...  and then got to the Prelim final, in his time with us.

He has definitely helped us on-field, and off....  but many people are just looking to hang their Angry-Hat on someone...  and preferably someone who came in from outside.

... cannibalistic fair-weather supporters,  looking to cook someone for no good reason.  Just because we're having a poor year,  and he's getting past it... some think they can strip his flesh.

He's getting older, and less needed.

Lew deserves much more respect from the legion,  than he's receiving.

lol. I’ve seen him go hard at the ball one time since he’s been with us. Lost count how many times he didn’t go.

But he belts blokes, what a hero.

The positive is I won’t see him for at least another week.

utterly ridiculous post. goes harder than most on our list and also knows when to not be a 'moth to the flame' something we still haven't worked out as a group yet.

does not shirk the contest.

What a con job this import turned out to be.  A guy past his peak, and the best coach of the modern era knew it.  Clarko has turned Hawthorn around and sped them up without a rebuild, and meanwhile a slow team got massively slower.

Lewis was so slow from day 1.  In fact, he slowed drastically in his last 2 years at Hawthorn.  When you're slow you have no other choice but to drop to your knees in a contest or belt the guy in frustration.  How many reportable incidents?  How many undisciplined 50 metre penalties?  His comments about umpire abuse just last week was the antithesis of leadership.  On the field, when we needed him to stand up in some way, in our most important game in a decade, he failed miserably and was universally awarded BOG.

This has been a train-wreck.  The tragedy is though, that if you stripped emotion ("he wants to come to Melbourne....yay") and rhetoric (leadership) away, it was always a stinker of a move.  Problem was that the club and most of our fans over-dose on emotion and rhetoric.

As Cornes said, no other club was anywhere near offering this bloke a 2 year, let alone 3 year deal.  With decisions like this, no wonder 2019 has been what it has been.

Leadership?  My sphincter.

I called this from day 1.  I love being in the 2% around here.

Well, well, put a person down for  being suspended spit him out. Our club has many knockers and have noticed it over the year more so than ever before. Really disappointed. Big Bullies  Trolls  hiding behind the keyboard. SAME OLD SAME OLD. How do you get rid of the Bullies that we have from our great club . Which it isn't great because of them. RATBAGS!  GET A LIFE.

Hope Jordan plays the year out. ALL of the CENSORED  Trolls go to HELL...... Go and have your say somewhere else.

Wow, I can't believe the really harsh negative sentiments towards Lewis. Did we think we were getting a gun player at the peak of his prowess? Of course not! When we got him we had a vacuum of leadership and experience and he was bloody valuable at that time. Has he been in decline in the last 18 month? Blind Freddy (and Lewis himself I'm sure) would tell you he has, but guess what that's what happens!

Bear in mind we got him for practically for nothing, he has done what we needed him to do for his time at our club. I feel that given our position on the ladder and that 2019 is basically shot we should look at giving games to others in his position, and he can play as an almost on field coach at Casey. That's not to say he can't play for the seniors again but I'm not sure we get what we want from him anymore.

As for his suspension, bloody stupid.

Oh well, now nobody has to argue about whether he should be in the side or not. Plus, he probably didn't want to go to Darwin. Too hot for an older body. It drains what little energy you have left.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
