Over 50 inside 50s for 1 goal since quarter time is not acceptable for any line coach. Watching the tigers jog out time and time again with little to no pressure is not acceptable. Obviously Rooke is not up for it. Needs to be moved on.

Richmond has laid 20 more tackles than the Demons, despite winning 30 more disposals. When broken into zones, the Tigers have laid 19 more tackles in their forward half, and lead forward 50 tackles 17 to three.

We are the worst team in the comp, bar none.

Something is rotten at the club.

We are the ugliest team to watch, that is for sure. Goodwin has some serious questions, midfield is deplorable

Shocking. Need lead up forwards. It’s like we went into this game trying to keep them to as least amount of goals and not even bother about scoring ourselves. Doesn’t look to be no quick fix.

Sorry Olisik, but i think most need to be shown the door.

Forward line very ineffective, team wide defense is absent and our mids refuse to run both ways.

Bring in new coaches with fresh ideas and Goodwin needs to change his coaching style............to something reminiscent of being half decent

Goody needs to get an explanation from the umpires boss on the massive inconsistencies between how we are umpired compared to the opposition every week. It is ridiculous.

We can’t score for the life of us. Every inside 50 entry is just spoiled or intercept marked. I’ve never seen teams be able to just transition the ball from their defensive 50 easier than when they play against us.

We have overrated our team. No avenue to goal, no defensive running and never play man on man. Teams just kick around uncontestedly for the most parts of the game and then kick into their inside 50 with ease. Season over. Play some kids and try to unearth talent for next year. Hopefully May and lever are back and injury free for next year.

Serious question. Does anyone think there’s going to be some changes in the football dept in the coming weeks, or even in the next week? Something needs to happen.

I agree but tonight’s game I put on our forward line. Defensive line held its own for majority of the match, midfield did OK, forward line has gone to the tip and every player who plays there (TMac, Weid, Petracca, Spargo ect).

There’s a million things wrong but right now I want to focus my rage on Hunt. Probably unfair to single him out, but I will say this - he’s an athlete but not a footballer.

This is the only viable explanation for the complete lack of run, fight and execution of basic skills. We're the worst team in the league. I am dreading playing the roos.

Can we start up the trade board yet?

Any decent out side mids going too 3 in the draft?

At least goody tried something different tonight and our defence was better.

Our forward line is still dysfunctional and our mids still don’t run hard enough both ways.

The tigers do move the ball forward really well and run and spread hard all 4 quarters. Maybe it’s something we can learn from.

After the first term it was a horribly frustrating game to watch.  The dew played a bit of a factor, but we fumbled more than I've ever seen from a Melbourne team.  That comes from a lack of confidence and, as the game wore on, the perceived pressure from the Tigers.  They just kept at us all night and wore us down until we simply couldn't handle it.

The way we used the ball going forward was probably the most disappointing aspect.  We controlled parts of the game but rushed our kicks forward which allowed Grimes and Vlastuin to pick it off at will.  It doesn't help that Weideman is waaaay out of form and Smith is not really a tall forward.  I thought early our pressure down there was okay, but it's hard to keep it in there when they're marking it uncontested.  Garlett and Hunt didn't have any impact, Petracca had one or two good moments and Melky didn't really play down there.  It was tough to watch.

On the flip side, I thought the way we set up defensively was pretty good and we weathered the storm for most of the night until the dam wall broke in the last.

I thought Stretch played really well and took his chance.  Hibberd did a pretty good job on Dusty, while I thought Frost and Tom Mac drew even with Lynch and Riewoldt.  I thought Hore was pretty good again across half back too.  Outside of that, there isn't much to write home about.

I was also impressed to see Goody make some changes to kick off the game, even if they didn't make a difference all night.  It shows he is willing to mix things up a little, and he made some changes to the gameplan.  But with no confidence and a night that made our skills look even more deplorable, we were always ice skating up a hill.

But it's on to next week.  Keep your chin up, Demonlanders.  Footy stinks at the moment, but there is always next week.  I'm already looking forward to it.

It is clear that this club stood still over summer. Absolute indictment on every individual involved. Goodwin and co. brought this upon themselves.

This could be worse than the Neeld years by the end of 2019. I really hope not, but any positivity looks a million miles away.

Like they wearing diapers on the field so that the [censored] does not trickle down their legs.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
