These umpires are killing the game seriously. 50 metre penalties are BS

WTF is going on Gill??

Is that a serious question?

Gill is pandering to the corporate advertisers and hasn’t a clue what drives footy fans to follow their teams through thick and thin.

Cares about the bottom line 1,2 and 3.  The fans 98, 99 and ?

Wow lions 3 and 0 us 0 and 3.

Who the hell would have thought that at the start of season.  Sure as hell wasnt  me.

I had the Lions finishing 6th on the ladder.  Their form doesn't surprise me.

In the interest of transparency,  I had us finishing 2nd.  And strangely enough,  our form doesn't surprise me.  Because we are Melbourne.

That McInerney goes alright. Has bobbed up when needed the last two weeks with some strong marking and goals.

He was right on our doorstep, instead we chose some giraffe spud called Filipovic.

Filipovic was the biggest dud ever, our recruiter should be sacked

I'm liking the look of Brisbane.  They have some really good young talls who are starting to get their act together and have drafted a raft of fast hard mids with good foot skills.  Hipwood seems to have pulled his head out of his [censored], McInerny is standing up as the spare ruck/resting forward and Stef Martin is continuing his good form.  Bringing in Fagan seems to have been a masterstroke.

Will be interested to see when the MRP  slaps Dusty with a feather for his actions.

Dusty should get 2 weeks for that behind the ball hit and the an extra week for that snorting signal.

Hope the hawks beat nth today just to keep them on the bottom and Brad Scott is kept winless

Every week I come on this forum saying I hope essenscum lose but obviously stuffed that up, but at least the pies lost. By the way I did laugh when the pies fans booed Sheed last night when he was going for goal. Just because he kicked the winner in the gf because the pies gave up a 5 goal lead, it isn't his fault.

Im happy to see brisbane do well. Its good for qld footy

Why is the dogs/suns game today beginning at 2:20 and not 1:10?

Roughead out is a massive loss for the hawks though

Last year we lead by 75 points against GC in the second qtr.

hate to think what the result would be today if we played them.

GC have inproved out of sight since May had left them.

Got in fresh young talent who are playing with such extreme enthusiasm.

And off loaded a few prima donnas who didn’t want to play for their pay.

Suns look a lot better without Lynch and May. Great team spirit despite the dogs having double the free kicks as usual

Rod Grinter would have got 12 weeks for the same offence !!

Wonder if the Dogs' win last week was more a product of Hawthorn hitting a wall in the fourth quarter with only two on the bench.

Props to GC for getting two wins on the board early, they certainly look a much better side than last year, but the only way they could have had an easier fixture so far than St Kilda, Fremantle and the Dogs would be if they'd had us in there somewhere.

Yep, that's it. Everything else has stayed the same.

Seriously BBP.

He will get 2 with 1 for a guilty plea. Should be 3 with 2 as off the ball.

GC would have beaten us easily today. Our one paced wombats bloated with bathwater  would have been left in the dust.

Demoralising, it would have been.

Come on man... that statement is based on YOUR expectations of where YOU think the team should be...

It's fine to be disappointed, and if you can look across the team and go 'aye, they're simply getting their paycheck and not putting in effort' for each an every one of them - then I would concur - but it aint right.... :)

May certainly hasn’t won me over yet....

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
