Jones is doing a Grimes.

You are kidding, Jones has always been way ahead of what Grimes was able to achieve.

Speaking of depth, poor Dom Tyson is copping a pasting from North supporters on bigfooty.

That old chestnut. Didn't see the game but listened to the whole thing in the car. Sounded like he got a fair bit of the footy. I guess it all came down what he did with it once he got it...

Oh come on. No last chances for ANB. I've had enough. I'd rather play with 21.

And O'Mac needs to go back to Casey and try and enjoy playing footy. Go for a mark. I've never seen such a defensive mindset in a player. Poor coaching.

The biggest pasting of all time this week will be reserved for TWSNBN because every man jack two bit media nutcase will be wanting them to win this coming weekend. It started straight after the game, with the replay of them running off the ground as if they wanted to go to the toilet, which looked rather funny in retrospect. Melbourne's failure will hardly be mentioned. i cannot believe the the animosity of the prickled ridden press towards a team that hasn't won a flag for such a long time.

It’s not really about Manpower and which player is in or out.

It’s attitude and game plan.

3 simple ins and outs.

Ins.

1- smart footy.

2- skilled disposals

3- tackle effectiveness

outs.

1- bombing the footy inside 50

2- turnovers

3- fumbles

Goodwin will need to fix delivery into the forward-50 first.

Otherwise player shift doesn’t matter.

ANB has to go, Sparrow needs to play against men at Casey

My Team

Jetta Frost Hore

Hibberd OMac KK

Salem Viney Petracca

Harmes TMac Fritsch

Melksham Weid Pruess

Gawn, Oliver, Brayshaw

Lockhart, Stretch, Jones(shouldn't be playing but no other options), Hunt

Obviously if May is forced out by injury Hore (or Wagner) comes back in but other than that I'd say no change.

That might sound mad to some but I don't think there's any player out there that can come in to really help the situation.

Anyone with half a brain could see that the problem was in the front half. And with Hannan, Garlett, AVB and J.Smith all injured there's not much I can see that will improve our forwardline, maybe T.Smith but he's coming off his own injury problems. Pruess is a ruckman not a forward so unless they really want to drop one of TMac/Weid he won't help our forward woes infact a slow ruckman could potentially make things worse. Wagner and Spargo were tried and failed a week earlier so if it really worth bring either back after 1 week in the 2s?

That said... Given the theme around here seems to make more radical changes...

Out: May(inj), Trac, Sparrow, ANB

In: Hore, T.Smith, Stretch, C.Wagner

(Fritch to move to forward/mid for Sparrow to allow Stretch to play on the wing.)

Scrap the game plan. It’s pretty clear that after four games it isn’t working. I can see what they were hoping to achieve in theory. Given the new 6-6-6 rule, get the ball into our 50 quickly and lock it in before the opposition can get extra players in to defend.

Out: Current game plan.

In: Last seasons game plan.

I think we're all guilty of marking Petracca harder than just about anyone else on our list because of the alleged talent, but there are plenty of players I would drop before him this week. As the game wore on I definitely found myself disappointed with his output, but there were times throughout where I felt a bit sorry for him.

He was playing one out, often against two defenders (because TMac dropped back) on a number of occasions. Plus the ball was just being bombed in to him, in the wet. I also don't think that's his position. He's being compared to De Goey & Martin, and I can see why. But he's not as explosive across the ground as those two. He is however seriously powerful in congestion, and rarely goes to ground these days. He belongs in the guts.

He was given the hardest task all day, and it was too much. He was set up to fail.

There's no way I drop him.

ANB on the other hand... I almost had to buy a new TV because of him.

Also thought Fritsch had some very very ordinary moments.

Out: ANB, Fritsch, Sparrow, May

In: Stretch, Petty, Wagner, (no idea)

ANB is an absolutely horrific player who looks half decent when we are dominating but who is a conman of the highest order.

Harsh but fair.

He only looked good last year when we were beating up side by 50+ points.

Fritsch hasn't responded well to last year's omission from the prelim.

Either he's down on form (like 75% of our side) or the recruiters were justified in overlooking him in earlier drafts.

I absolutely love CP but not sure I'd be feeling sorry for him.  He's play 60 odd games & has been allowed the luxury of holding his spot when clearly, he needs & has needed time at Casey.......

Its a brutal game & good players find a way.

Unfortunately with Christians fitness, or lack of it, he will never get a regular spot on the ball.......even ANB, who is the clubs fittest player cant get in there, so what hope does CP have? Maybe pinch hitting him for short spurts is the way to go where he can have a quick & immediate impact.

Unfortunately, when you put yourself out there, the hits come a little harder & the road back can be a long one. I hope he can find some good form, because like you WTE, I think he's a powerful talent & has the world at his feet.

I feel sorry for those guys who bust their boilers every week, don't get any credits & are sent back to Casey at the drop of a hat.

After Goodwin's presser I can see many changes either.......

Out: May, Sparrow

In: Preuss, J Wagner

Hunt is not accountable Hibberd is slow and out of form, Jetta is getting beaten. Then to go with 3 talls on a wet night - idiotic. Jeez we miss Lewis.

Hunt and frost to go.

Sparrow got away with the fumbles last week, this week he didnt get close enough to fumble, Trac did (i.e. fumble) also no pressure, not sure what ANB does, Melks playing without confidence (hes a forward that doesn't want as shot at goal). Weids has playef 2 good game (unfortunately last year). Sparrow and Trac to go.

Kk was also poor (no defense)

Spargo and Keilty in, then whatever; perhaps Stretch and anyone fast.

OUT: OMac, ANB, Weideman, Jones, Sparrow

IN: Preuss, Keilty, Stretch, Spargo, Baker

horrendous luck if he is out!

Been ruled out - via official comms. Uncertain as to how long though.

Yes he certainly won't play against the Bummers but beyond that is unknown at this stage.

Groin injury - you'd reckon a couple of weeks but, if it's a bad one ……………………………..?????

Give Keilty a go. Make him ruck 1/2 a quarter and have Max in the forward line.

May injured? Great. Has had a 10/10 start to his career at Melbourne.

May never played close to a full season at Gold Coast. For all his problems, even Hogan has been more durable than May, but hey we'll still throw truckloads of money at anyone who'll return our calls.

As for Lever ...?

Bit worried if we'll get value out of May we gave up a lot for him and he does seem a bit injury/suspension prone. That and the wisdom of importing GC Suns players they are cursed! Look at Richmond never had an injury, get Lynch and now they are screwed...

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
