Really great fight back... seemed to play the last 10 minutes on our terms.ย

Hope we come out firing and get some score board pressure goingย

ย

We donโ€™t have a forward line. Itโ€™s amazing we were the highest scoring team last year somehow.ย

We are hanging on by the skin of our teeth.ย

After a poor 15 minutes in the first, we've generally been able to break even around the ground.ย  Our mids have already been better than last week, but we just need to use it a little better.

The difference is their bottom six are playing a little better than ours right now.

4 goals isn't mission impossible.

ย

We managed to cut the contested possession differential from 35 to 25 in only 10 minutes. We got on top but didn't capitalise.

Really need a crumberย like Garlett in these conditions. Shame he is injured.

Goodwin has to throw the side around NOWย

Find a spark at Half time

Be Bold Goody.ย

Change some thinking...

Need a Hogan.

So far it seems that we:

1- have no forwardlineย

2- have lost our ability to win contested footyย

3- have gotten slowerย

4- are carrying way too many injured or unfit playersย

5- one of our captains is cookedย

6- Fritsch, Petracca, Harmes and ANB have gone backwards big timeย

7- Gawn is sick/unfit/out of formย

Have I missed anything?

ย

Weideman being thrashed. When he gets it he handballs into high pressure trouble.ย

So many armchair critics here. Its wet, really wet. They play much better wet weather footy than we do. We stemmed the bleeding that quarter and we are still in it. Our forward line is the big problem, we just fall apart once its past the half forward line. Its not going to change much tonight, but lets hope an answer can be found.

Cant help it im an optimist. Where are you @Wiseblood ?!

Without Oliver we are 10 goals down. ย Not knocked off my feet by May and KK yet... ย Trac ....!!!

Viney looking better.

Terrible in the front half

Would love to getย Garlett back into our forward line... well any proven goal kicker really.

If only it was perfect 32-degreeย weather and the game was at the MCG...oh wait

Think everyone needs to calm downย

lot of players underdone I for one didnโ€™t expect to win this.

we have been pretty awful yes but we are winning clearances tackles and inside 50s.

KK is going to be a player for us...trying to find some positives

KK and lockhart.ย  but we have a lot of players NQR's. and low on confidence.

You know Its might almost be worth trying Tracca in defence, to steady the ship using his foot skills,ย  like Watts at Port last week.

Throw Hunt forward from the goal square, along with OMc. Omc to draw the long kick in and hunt to do what comes naturally.ย  And have lockhart in there at their feet.

ย

Start Weide out around 50, at Half-foward... ย  Or,ย  run Weide at CHB on the Rat.

I'm here, mate.ย  Only jumped on at half time as I know exactly what this thread will be like.

Conditions are horrible, we're playing in hostile territory and we're in touch... just.ย  That's a positive right there.

We're struggling forward of the ball, and that's down to the weather, a few players being out of form and the fact that the Cats still have a good, and underrated, defensive unit.ย ย

If we keep up the pressure and work out butts off then, hey, who knows?ย  Maybe we can give ourselves a sniff.ย  We're certainly not out of the contest.

I'd rather have tmac as the stay at home forward than Petracca. Why do we keep bombing it up to Petracca one-out, at least put it in space for him.

Yep. Itโ€™s half time in round 2.

Definitely up against it tonight but players are really digging deep. It's clear we are not in form but we started to get on top that qtr, keep it up and we might just pull off a win.ย  Go dees!ย

Key forwards arenโ€™t in the team to tackle but his pressure is woeful.

When the ball hits the ground he is out of the contest.ย  The OP just runs off at will for an easy disposal up the field.ย  For any goals Weid might kick through a traditional markย and kick goal on the lead he will bleed just as many through his opponent having a free reign the other way.ย  One of a few reasons our forward line is a dog's breakfast and all other clubs know this and exploit it.

Yet we continue to persist with the Weids experiment year after year....Goody / Macca and Co...get serious FFS or our premiership window is finished and off we go on yet another rebuild!

Borderline victim mentality.ย

We're just rubbish presently.

It's going to click for us, one quarter or another.

Whether it's the next one, or next week, it'll click, then all will be well.

Just... need to not lose too many until we do.

May and KK deserve time to gel in a new side.ย  Think of how long it took Lever to settle last year.ย ย

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca ย

The superstar Demon midfielder made a successful return to the fold after his devastating injury last year and the subsequent fallout from the treatment he received, during which time he sought to depart the club. Petracca's professionalism and strong play, both in the midfield and up forward, were outstanding and resulted in him being runner-up in the club's best and fairest count. However, early this week, the club's new CEO, Paul Guerra, confirmed that the under-contract Petracca has again requested a trade, adding that he would only be allowed to leave for a โ€œquality offer that turns our head". No doubt some Demon heads are already spinning.
