It was a skin condition on a small area, shouldnt have effected him one bit.

To be hospitalised it would suggest otherwise. Most likely cellulitis- if so quite debilitating

If only we traded in another ruckman to cover for Max under such circumstances...

Knowing our penchant for coming up with novel ways of losing players to career ending injury, he'll probably be the first player ever to lose a leg to flesh eating bacteria....

And welts …. obviously.

Exactly what qualification does one need to speak with authority about "fungal matters"? Is that a Fremantle 'clinical' condition?

If you are in hospital, your condition isn’t “mild”. If you are in hospital then play footy a few days, you are not 100% at your best.

Hospitalised for something that sounds like a skin rash. Really? I don’t think so.

It was described as a cyst or a boil on TV tonight. Was also mentioned that he was under general anaesthetic for the procedure to remove it.

Potentially far more serious than some of the flippant comments in this thread suggest.

If true, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it impacted his preparation or his performance.

It wasn't rabies because all the little Port rats wouldn't leave him alone......

Probably more like it,  he probably burnt his asparagus,  swallowing a jaffle.

Gawn should not have played. Preuss should have.

Are we now this arrogant and stupid as a club ?

I have played a few days after a general & was way off the pace of the game, just couldn't get going at all.

If this is right it would have had a big effect on Max's game.

From first hand experience it most certainly would have...

Based on the RIchmond pre-season game Preuss would have been dead by half time if we'd tried to play him as the solo ruckman in the heat. I'd play him this week but has to be as a second banana, not first ruck.

Wish there was a mature, competent ruckman we could have parked on the rookie list as an emergency option - if Gawn went down with a serious issue we'd be in all sorts. Got away with it a couple of years ago, don't think we would now.

This club has made an art form of playing unfit players in the past 24 months, why would Gawn be any different? In fact he probably started the trend when he came back too early in 2017.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
