Treloar and Varcoe couldn’t get back on the ground at the end. Teams need a coach on the bench directly players to come off. Players not looking over at the end

Degoey cost them the game all he had to do was turn and kick a goal, not sure what he was thinking

What happened, I didn't see that part of the game

How much have Mooney and Jono been drinkin??!

Roaming Bwyan is more pathetic this year than in 2018.

Almost as pathetic as trying to justify assault at a game of footy.

Well...Matty Lloyd's greatest midfield looked very average tonight.

To be honest he had to be taking the [censored] with that call.

Voss, Black, Lappin/Akker/Power/Hart

Cousins, Kerr, Judd

What drugs is he on??? makes the case for Swany's call to drug test the media.

velvet sledgehammer has always been dumb as a velvet-lined box of hammers

that brisbane midfield six you highlighted - voss, black, lappin, akermanis, power, hart - is better than anything i've ever seen, particularly when clark keating creaked out of his april-august coma just in time for september

next best group of six would probably be port's around the same time - primus feeding francou, roger james, kornes, josh carr, byron pickett coming from outta nowhere to knock blokes out with hip-and-shoulders, and nick stevens before he went to carlton cos they refused to trade him to the filth...and this doesn't even count the two burgoynes they had running around at the same time

really hoping our current crop - max giving silver service to oliver, brayshaw, harmes, viney, jones, petracca and salem - can be our golden age of mids

Not sure what to read into this.

Is Geelong better than people thought?

Is Collingwood worse than people thought?

If I had to pick one, I'd pick the latter.

Let's see how they go this year with a tougher draw. They had a breezy fixture last season that was frankly ridiculous.

As for Treloar, he's still an absolute butcher by foot and I reckon he showed a distinctly soft side tonight. I hope our boys were watching that and get into him when we come up against them.

Well said and as much as I dislike them the Eagles midfield of the mid noughties was something special to watch and probably third in line

Cox(better than Primus and Keating and far more mobile) Cousins, Judd, Kerr, Embley, Banfield Braun and Fletcher

Good to see the wobbles are here to stay. Won't win the premiership with the average midfield and small forward line they have. De Goey has to be the most overrated player in the comp.

Jones, Harmes, Gawn, Viney, Oliver and Brayshaw. It's better than the pies. Treloar is Mr.Invisible, Beams has past it and Pendlebury is finished, I see a slide going on for the Pies fingers crossed.

Moon.  I am surprised that you are not too embarrassed to admit watching him.

Not a popular viewpoint but I felt a touch of sadness for the pies last night.

They fought the good fight. Nice cameo from Jeremy Howe. His game ending score assist was a lovely moment for many a dees fan.

You're right mono. I'm ashamed. ?

Glad that Collingwood got their season off to the right sort of start.  Goes well with the below good article from The Duck, which I actually think has some relivance to our season as well (though not as much so according to the man himself):

Gotta love Ablett playing forward. No longer does the mercurial and exerts zero pressure.

Gotta be his last year

I thought Ablett was fantastic last night. Petracca could learn a few things from him!!

What the hells going on over there in Adelaide ? Thought they’d belt the Dorks.

My tips are screwed already ?

Club culture.

Look who’s left in recent years and they’re still going.

At least this Adelaide performance is making me feel a little better.

Fair to say it’s a good day to be a Port fan.

Good to see the current AFL ladder showing Collingwood and Carlton in the bottom two.

Not for long ???

4 games 2 knee reconstructions.....maybe we got lucky. In an uncanny twist, (pun intentional) the Adelaide player Tom Doedee was the one they used to replace Lever.

Now, what were those Crows fans saying last year........

All.the favourites struggled this weekend. Tigers just held the Blues at bay, while us, the Pies and Adelaide all lost very winnable games.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
