The Ted Whitten legends match is far more enjoyable than the rubbish I subjected myself to tonight.

Utter crap.

As a life long Rampage fan, I have to confess that I shed a little tear when the 2019 champions trophy was held aloft. To know that a bloke like Fritta has dedicated hours and hours of his lifeblood and soul to the cause had me swelling with pride, especially after watching him win the rock, paper, scissors in the second home game. I have to admit that I got drunk after the game and only woke up now outside a shopfront in Bourke Street, near someone resembling BBO who was reeking of methylated spirits and snoring his head off. I must say I did feel sad for Nev who fate cruelly decreed would be denied from making the Deadly line up due to injury. The roars of the crowd are still ringing through my ears.

Bring back the Wizard Cup!

I had a quick look and almost felt embarrassed for the players: what a silly concept! And made even sillier by the inanity of James Brayshaw  and his infantile commentary style. What a [censored]! (Sorry Angus)?.

So, I watched about 5 to 10 minutes just to make sure I wasn't being a bit harsh in my criticism.

That's 5 to 10 minutes I will never get back...

Fritta was working the Hubba Bubba over last night. That’s my take from viewing. His celebration after winning Rock, Paper, Scissors against Higgins was good too.

I watched it for over an hour.  But then I realised I had spent 95% of that time web surfing - clearly the whole thing was so absorbing I hardly ever looked up at the TV.

So does that make Bailey the only ever dual-premiership AFLX player in history? Imagine travelling back just fifteen months in time to Casey Fields and telling the kid that this accolade was on his future cards. And that this distinct glory would be sealed by a super-dooper Gatorade goal worth 20 points. And that such a goal was made at a stadium called Marvel stadium, at a certain end as dictated by someone choosing rock over scissors.

The circus is in town. Performing acrobats, animals and most importantly, the clowns

So Gil and Shocking were there then?

Did Gil dash onto the arena on his polo pony?

I went looking for a test pattern to watch instead...  but there wasn't one,  so I listened to the news.

I'll say one thing in favour of AFLX.  It made AFLW look very interesting.

(Good luck to the AFLW players, but I generally find it pretty tedious to watch.)

About 18k there apparently (although the AFL will inflate that number) Mostly freebie's you'd reckon.

Trying to find the actual TV numbers might be a tricky task too ... depending on what the figure is.  Our media might choose to ignore ?

As for the spectacle ... utterly boring but each to their own.  If others liked it that's their right.

A tackle-free jog around could somehow have appeal.  Don't ask me how otherwise I will point you towards WWE,  ESports,  UFC and the like.

The AFL needs to get behind the concept by moving it into schools. (years 2-8 for starters).

This requires rules, area co -ordinators etc. liaison with phys ed teachers etc

Touch rugby is a very popular sport played by all ages and levels. No reason why this cannot be similar.

Perhaps one of the three or four little league games played on the oval at half time in AFL matches could be AFLX.

Can anyone with young children in their family who watched AFLX report on their level of enthusiasm? In particular did the new format increase or decrease the level of excitement for those who also watched last year? It's clearly a product not aimed at rusted on AFL followers. But if it can't generate interest in the young...surely the AFL will have to start thinking about whether it's worth persevering with.

We had it on as background noise LDC, the two eldest occasionally looked up at the TV. 12yr old girl’s enthusiasm perked up only when Fritta appeared as he’s become her favourite, 10yr old boy was totally confused with all the rules and basically tuned off. Their words “ this is silly Dad.”

They were a lot more involved and excited in our ladies’ match yesterday.

A night out last year for the family at AFLX was a lot more entertaining as the team was running around then. Big fail in my opinion this year.

Is the fishtank still around?

A fishtank.   What a good idea.

I just didn't think of that, but you know, that might just be a good antidote to all the  'in your face',  demanding adds, on TV these days.

I hit the remotes  'guide button'  most times,  but I forget to put tv back on, leaving the guide to go to low power.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
