Are these the same writers that had our backline conceding a competition high 104.5 in 2018?ย

A+ for consistency.

Not sure how they worked out our 2018 average scoring as follows 2299/22=94 (instead of 104.5).

Not sure that you need to have the best forward line in the comp if you have one of the best midfields. ย I think the Brisbane Lyons team of the early 2000s was in this kind of position and it worked out pretty well for them.

ย

Forward schmorward. When the back six with May and Lever clicks there are going to be some teams that kick some very low scores against us.ย

Add in a midfield group that supplies more inside 50โ€™s than any other in the comp and you could have Humphrey B Bear standing at full forward and we will still kick goals. But theย fact isย we actually have more forward talent than most other clubs; McDonald, Melksham, Petracca, ANB,ย the Weid...

But defenceย wins premierships and we are going to have a ripper.ย

Very similar with a Full Back moved Forward and doing the job...

Forward line is a concern for me. If Tom McDonald isnโ€™t right, I guess Preuss will be the tall target deep. A little concerned about McDonald as he seems to be having trouble with his big toe again. Go see Petraccas Instagram to see what I am talking about. I think we will improve if guys like Spargo the Weed can take their game to the next level. Getting Hannan going and consistently contributing will improve the functionality of the forward line. We were better upnforward without Hogan, so itย doesnโ€™t bother me that he has gone. It will be an interesting start to the year to see how we shape up.

Toe exercises.ย

If he wasnโ€™t able to do them Iโ€™d be worried but instead Iโ€™m happy to see a proactive measure thatโ€™s clearly aimed at mitigation of re-injury.ย

I don't want us to be rated top of the Pop charts....

I much prefer us go about our business in a tough uncompromising way... without all that fluff.

no fluff, no outside noise, and less pressure..ย  and just play hard, and WIN.

Essendon 4th? Hype train in full effect.

Who was the Lyon's backman moved forward?ย ย I forget that detail.

Alistair Lynch

Lynch, Brown, Bradshaw plus Akka etc was a pretty good forward line IMO.

Agree. If you want to look to a premiership team with a forgettable forward line the eagles in 2006 were full of poor to average. ย But dominant mids and strong defence got them a flag. ย

Matters little where they rank us. Fact is we were the highest scoring team by nearly 20 goals last year.ย

Yes we lose some goals from Hogan but we will leak far less goals in defence this year to compensate and we'll get more goals from Weed.

Our premiership window is wide open.ย

I'd go along with both those statements and I certainly was aware that Brisbane had some pretty fair forwards.ย  Main point I was making is that a dominant midfeild can make a good, forward line look like superstars. ย

Brown was a genuine superstar, but I'm not sure Lynch and Bradshaw were absolute world beaters. ย ย Hopefully if we look back retrospectively and our forwardline of McDonald, Weid, Pruess/Gawn and Trac/Melksham are held in similar regards. ...although if they have multiple premiership medalians I don't really think anyone will really care so much what anyone thinks of them as individual players.

It's nice in a way to have all this positive publicity and kind opinionsย from the press, but there is only one ranking I care about and that's the one that a team achieves by winning on grand final day.

Plain and simple; the empty heads are rumbling again - they will say anything at any time for any reason. Dead right, 'Balls, GF day is ours this year.ย

Speaking of our forwardline, Iโ€™m seeing TMac shoe-less on Instagram at Jack Vineyโ€™s wedding and someone in the background is yelling โ€œitโ€™s the damn toeโ€...

Do not panic. Or do.ย

Essendon at 4 shows how easily led these 'journalist'ย are. I mean,ย McKernan and Joe Daniher as kpf's when Joe has hardly played a game in yonks???

Letโ€™s panic - thereโ€™s nothing else to do this time of yearย

Anyone else notice a fairly glaring omission in the team they named for us?

no but naming Hunt in the backline shows they really don't know the team.

To not be in the top 3 is a disgrace. I think our forward line can match anyone's. I think they put us so low is because of the loss of Hogan. Christ he is over rated.
