Negative Nellie. What are you talking about we are picking up 20 players and losing no one. We are on the verge of 5 flags in a row.

Mahoney also said they would expect heavy compensation from the Dockers, given they believe he's worth the "highest that anyone has been traded for".

This tells me we want 4&5.  Does anyone know what’s the highest anyone has been traded for previously?

I'll be honest, looking at our best 22 for next year without Hogan or AVB in it makes me sad. Pray that May will be great for us and him an Lever stay fit all season. Also pray that Weid can kick 25-30 goals and T.Mac has another good year while always getting the no.1 defender.

We need to keep AVB desperately

4 and 5 would be a statement. Freo won't do it. Port want their pick 4/5 and Freo want as many picks in top 10 as possible because Lobb, Kelly, Hogan and Hill are all available.

WHY R U YELLING??????????????

When I first heard about Jesse wanting to leave I was shattered.

After my brain processed it for a day or two I became genuinely excited about what we could get in return.

If (and it's a big if) there is any back flip from Jesse and he doesn't request a trade, he must sign a minimum 4 year contract extension or we must F him off.

I'd say the contract is a good point, but we all know how fickle those contracts can be sometimes.  If a player really wants out, they'll generally get their way, no matter if they're signed to a 1 or 5 year deal.  Player power rules these days.

Ah well no Hogan for them then.

Do they?  Port could chase the Saints pick 3 so they can trump Adelaide for SA players.

Saints have no 2nd or 3rd round pick and need a decent pick for Hannebury, a less decent pick for Kent and picks for other targets.  Saints might happily relieve Port of picks 9 and 10.  Saints may then cash #10 for 2 low/middle second round picks.

So far all we have heard is that Freo are trying to get Port's 9 and 10 (if they get it).  Port may have other ideas...

Media wankers doing their best to tell us we're better with May than with Hogan r1, therefore a straight swap. I dont think i can listen to this [censored] for two weeks. Club's fans know that these commentators dont have any specialized knowledge on their individual clubs, and really only have a broad view. Whats the point of listening and rolling my eyes!

Very true, but a club would hold a lot more trade power with a 5 year contract up their sleeve.

I know you were only joking, but what would they offer him? 2 million a year? (F**k I wish I was Jesse Hogan).

tell them 4&5 or no deal. They will take it because they’re so desperate for anything to sell to their supporters. It would be a huge when it’s done for us.

Given who the Dockers are trying to bring in, a more likely trade is a very early pick (likely 5) plus a player.  They'll need to keep some picks but Hogan is clearly the most valuable KPP in trade conversations so he is definitely worth more than 1 first round pick.  It may be Andrew Brayshaw or it may be somebody else but I think this is probably the most likely outcome.

Don’t go Jesse my darling! Everything I did for Trumpie I’ll do for you!

Lucky for you Toad from Mario Kart won't be unleashed again.

Lol, sideways idea:

Maybe we get pick 4 2018 and Freo's first pick in the 2019 draft, and that's why we are asking about trading our draft pick for next year (to get May/whatever). Because obviously Freo will be expecting to rocket back up the ladder.

If it is a wrangle between accepting 5 or 10, I think their 2019 first selection is a fair slip of the coin. Leave it to fate, very sporting.

This was mentioned last night by Tom Morris ‘On The Couch’. I’m not sure what his track record is like but he believes the Neale trade will start an 8 way mega trade. I can’t remember the specifics, all I remember is him stating we will get their first pick and a player back which he didn’t name.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
