Lucifers Hero 40,864 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) I've moved on from yesterday! We didn't go all the way but we had some very fine performances over the three weks. Interested in who people think was our Mr September (across all three games). My votes are (in Brownlow style): 3 J. Viney 2 N Jetta 1 J Harmes They were the most consistent - each had an exceptional game in at least one of the earlier finals and were the most likely to drag us out of the quagmire yesterday. (Apologies to Weideman and T Mcdonald). Edited September 23, 2018 by Lucifer's Hero 6 Quote

Wiseblood 24,637 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 James Harmes for me. Not only was he able to curb some of the best players in the game, but he also found his own footy and was damaging when going the other way. He has turned into a very important part of our side and his improvement has been a joy to watch. Jack Viney a very close second. 1 Quote
Nasher 33,717 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 I would have said TMac before the game but he was a strong contender for WOG yesterday. Definitely Viney for me though. 1 Quote

Oliver by a mile. 3 excellent games from the kid who was great from day 1 of the finals despite close atention. Agressive and gave as good as he got . Hugely advanced his reputation and no stage fright for one so young. Yesterday he was our best. 1 1 Quote
picket fence 18,353 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 My main criticism of Viney, gets it tries to break every tackle under the sun... Loses it and.. 1 Quote

layzie 34,695 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) Harmes for me. Teams are going to focus on him a lot more next year. So hopefully he can deal with it. Viney second. Neville the Jetta 3rd Edited September 23, 2018 by layzie 1 Quote
Dee Zephyr 19,356 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Harmes in my opinion. Very good in all three games. Quote

No10 466 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 I’d argue Mr September is a player that rises above their season form. Viney and Oliver both incredible, but no more so than typical. Harmes and Brayshaw emerged in season. Trac is the player we all hope for. 1. Hibberd. Found the desperation. 2. Weid. The big surprise. 3. TMAC. First to stand tall. Quote

On reflection and based only on the first two finals it was probably Weideman. As No 10 says above my view of a Mr September is someone who goes to that next level. I was hoping it would be Petracca who while having an okay first few finals didn't have that stellar lift in form. Sidebottom at Collingwood and Martin last year are perfect examples of the elusive Mr September 1 Quote
