I did, sobbed with relief more than excitement though. This season has really been testing, I think all will agree there. Always had the belief this side can go all the way this year.

Not during the game, but must admit after checking Demonland and even Facebook (which is usually a cesspit), I came close. It was great to see so many others enjoying the result.

Yes. Wife things I’m crazy

When LeCras kicked his goal, I walked over the road and hit golf balls. Walked back in to see Kent seal it. Couldn't believe it, tears in my eyes, got ready to sing the song and of course, Foxtel showed nothing after the game.

I can’t watch this . It is too painful. . Switched on to foxtel to Ww2 doco as a distraction, and my iPad popped up the final scores. Oh what joy....Go you mighty Dees. We could do real destruction in September. I feel 1987 coming on again, except Max will control running over the mark l am sure! Weid was good today...

I did - and so did my boy. I came to Australia for the 2006 season, my eight year old has never seen them in finals. He sobbed and I told him that this was why you stick with your team, even through all the bad times!

My old man got me onboard the Dees, I was born in 77. I used to come home from school and ask him why I couldn’t support the Dons or Hawks etc who were winning.

“Teams for the weak willed my son... I knew you were strong enough to stay the course when I first laid eyes on you... “ and then he’d leave me too it.

I remember the joy of finals as a 10yr old in 87!!!

Cried for about 5 minutes after Melk kicked the last goal.

Great story mate.

Enjoy it and soak it all up!

I think I was a little bit. It was just a huge relief and it all just came out!

Tears for our mate Kev - a central Victorian Demon who passed away last week. Lots of tears in our group of 15 who met up at the pub to watch in Kev’s honour.

Good on you Kev - got the final curse off our back, now get to work on the Norm Smith curse!

Guilty

Unashamedly so ........ just like I did at the Western oval in 1987.  I live in Canberra where it's bitterly cold tonight, and after making one post on the Post-match thread, I announced that I was going for a walk.  When I returned the tears were streaming.  I blamed the cold.  Mrs Deeoldfart didn't believe me for a minute!

No tears just yet.

Just relief, really.

We got 'miles to go before we sleep' - but it is a milestone and we will enjoy it.

Kudos to all of you that hung around - it doesn't get easier but we have to opportunity to do some damage.

?‍♂️?‍♂️

30 seconds to go i started shed tears.

The heartache and pain we've experienced for 12 bloody years..

It was all worth it.. ???

I celebrated and got it on video with my two daughters 4y.o and 1 y.o special.

I shed no more than a solitary tear at my dad's funeral so I'm not about to start bawling over a footy club…but it meant a lot to me regardless.

Good on us all for sticking through the hard hard times to see this night.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
