    Why are you taking this personally ?  I was referring to all the knockers who wanted to trade him . However if you are one of those knockers then feel free to take it personally. And if so on your bike! as the saying goes.

    we often dont agree...but its hard not to here. A bridge too far indeed.  I dont think Demons are far enough ahead in the queue for miracles. Really needed to beat Sydney to get things to click...they didnt.

    Glad the club put him on ice, it’s not a bad one apparently but players have pushed through previously and had an issue. Come back super charged for next season Hogs.

    I'll disagree with you on that (while of course, agreeing as well ...), because I don't believe these things ever come down to one match, one decision, one player. It's a cumulation of events, in this case, an accumulation of losses, in particular those against Geelong x2 and St Kilda. Sydney were *always* going to be difficult to beat, the other 3 matches were more achievable wins.

    Though even in those, players out (Viney, McDonald, Lever etc.) contributed IMHO.

    but in a sense thats the thing...the accumulation as you put it.. The Sydney game would have added to momentum, added to confidence.....Had we won it would have been because certain and various things had been done right/well. It might have shown we were atoning for those very games you mentioned. The new accumulation would have been positive. My thinking was we needed to beat Sydney to show we had overcome the inertia,  its my opinion of course.

    I never thought wed beat Sydney to tell the truth... The first couple of mins didnt nothing to sway that but then we had SO much of the game..and fluffed it..

    Hogans demise seemed to mirror the whole side really.

    Love how grounded Hogan is about it as well - mentioned that, while disappointed, Alex Johnson just did his sixth ACL so he can't really complain.  It's a great attitude to have and will hold him in great stead in his recovery from this injury.

    It's well known that he is one of our hardest workers at training, so once he is fit again I have no doubt that he can come back fitter and better in 2019.

    If it is indeed narrower that really helps u as the width of the g makes our aggressive press less effective as an attacking weapon and more easily penetrated by opponents on the rebound

    yep... of the three games we all knew Sydney was the easiest if there is such a thing.Not much mention on the board about how lucky we were that Buddy kicked 1:5.

    In a way it would be very Melbourne to beat WCE and then fall to GWS.

    The unfortunate reality is that while our VFL team kicks butt in their competition they have produced very little even by way of depth for the senior team. Not one inclusion has stayed the course. I thought we had found something in Tim Smith but that failed as well.

    PS: I rate Spargo as a worthwhile product but I am not sure he qualifies as coming from the VFL as he only played about 6 games at that level.

    I haven't read every post so this may have been pointed out already.

    From memory , Dave Misson started at the MFC for the 2012 preseason (late 2011).

    Not long after that we lost Jack Trengove to navicular injury that dragged out for way too long, and we lost Mitch Clark to a lisfranc injury. They are just the two main ones I can recall from soon after Misson got to the club...  perhaps there are others someone else will remember. 

    Now this season we obviously have Viney,  Stretch, Hogan, T Mac all with foot or toe issues.

    Is it all just a coincidence, or is Missons training/recovery program/philosophy the (very very big) problem?

    Again I have not or do not want to read all posts on this but my take is it will give someone else a go (maybe Weeds) and you never know it may well make those up the ground to FINALLY lower their eyes and look for someone spare in the forward line in lieu of tossing it up in air at Hogan.

    As bad as it is for Hogan this maybe a blessing for us and our entries into forward line will be better and forwards work better as a unit.

    It may be a blessing in disguise.  It is a shame he is out, but it might focus the squad, change our f50 entry structure, invite others to step up, and encourage the opposition to overestimate our weakness.

    i hope the squad digs deep and sticks it up the Weagles.

    Me too, last two years in Trident. Seriously considering going back to Redlegs on Level 1 next year.

      There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

      I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.
