Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hutcho is right in that we shouldn't be talked up until we beat a decent team.  I get the feeling some commentators are just sick of the same narrative presenting itself time and time again.

The commentators aren’t the only ones sick of seeing and hearing the same thing over and over and over and over again.

Don't blame them. It's the same regurgitated story every month. We come out and smash a [censored] team, build up everyone's expectations, then blow it spectacularly against a legitimate opponent (usually defying a few records in the process, like most inside 50s in a loss, etc.) Wash, rinse, repeat. Predictable as the sunrise.

And the cherry on the cake? The same ending every season (missing finals) but in sadistic new ways, as if they're challenging themselves to be even more cruel than the year before -- blowing a match against wooden spooners Carlton then getting flogged by 100 points in Roosy's farewell match, being the team to miss finals by the smallest % margin in AFL history, being the team with the highest percentage ever to miss finals, etc.

Can't wait to see what cruelty they have in store for us next year! Maybe we could pull a North, win our first 12 matches then blow every match thereafter?

Can't disagree with a thing that was raised, we are flat track bullies.

Sydney were waiting for us to rip their heart out, they were on their hands and knees and we still couldn't finish them it.

Now with Hogan going down we need to remodel our forward set up to We stay too set in a particular structure mix it up, 1 tall (Tmac) 3 Mid talls, (Melk, Trac, Fristch) and 2 smalls (Jeffy, Kent).

Throw it around 1 tall, 2 mids, 3 Smalls.

He's very stubborn like that Goody, could be his undoing.

Wow, that stat of he goal accuracy falling away against top opponents, particularly that the set shot accuracy collapses, is just mind-melting.

Wait, is it mind-melting, or is it just evidence of our forward's minds melting?

I'm sure part of it is that the better teams do a better job of closing up our quick slice into the forward line so our shots are from less ideal spots, but really... can there be any more clear evidence of a problem between the ears?

Its the same commentators that are pumping us up in the first place. I really can't understand it - the media pumps us up and then has a go at us for getting pumped up when we don't perform. It's mind boggling really.

The media loves using terms like "drinking their own bathwater" when it was the media themselves that run the bath and made us get in. sick of the commentary these days - there is way too much of it. Its hard for the average punter to form an opinion on anything footy related when we have the opinions of an army of ex players rammed down our throat every 10 mins, 7 days a week.

I miss the 90's. Footy was simpler and far more enjoyable.

Hutchy isn't. The rest of the panel were still confident and talking us up. For them it's disappointing. Hutchy is simply stating he won't fall for the hype until we do something relevant.

There is a good case not to read or listen to anything in the media and if you happen to, take no notice of it. I rarely do.

Why? They’re right in what they’re saying, how could you not agree? Too many drink the koolaid

Accuracy against top 8 sides was a very interesting statistic. Blows the 'off day' theory out of the water.

Against the weaker sides we get a lot of goals from inside 15m. We are number 1 for that stat.

Against the strong sides I suspect our shots at goal are from much further out because they don't let us get out the back.... I don't have the evidence to back that up but I think it probably holds true...

It's the media talking the club up not the the club themselves, the media are the best in drooling over players and clubs like lovesick schoolgirls.

It doesn’t matter, the players choke when it counts the most, that has nothing to do with supporters or even the media, it’s mental fragility

Most of the shots they missed on sunday were within 30 metres or less

Spot on Smokey

But the bs sells if the story is juicy enough

Talking us up knowing that we almost certainly can't meet those lofty expectations and be ready to stick the boot in when the expectations aren't met.

With a gullible audience,  the bs is easily sold.  When our own supporters buy-in it just creates an even bigger problem

The team is only ever going to become a great team when it actually becomes a great team ...not before.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
