Good on him.  He has earned a bit of luck!

I never thought he would get a gig unless they had serious inj issues.

All the best trenners!

Who says persistence and hard work doesn't pay off!  Here's hoping he can get back to his very best.  If he can, Port will be well served!  I wish him well!

I will be watching this game now, hoping Trenners plays a blinder, can’t remember an ex player in my many years of following the Demons that I want to not just do well, but to reignite a career that should have been fantastic.

Hope he lights it up!

Too much talent and commitment to not be able to play some sort of role at AFL level.

Best of luck to him, he’s a ripping positive person. He’s had a horrible run of luck with his footy career, and it’s admirable the resilience and hard work he’s shown the whole way through. Am surprised and glad he’s got the chance at AFL level again.

Good luck Trenners!

Well done Trenners.

If wish you every bit of good fortune for your career.

A fantastic Demon trying his luck elsewhere...   a True Demon at heart.

Good luck and well done Jack.

Yes, I echo the senitiments here.  Wish him well in getting back into the AFL.  Must admit, I didn’t see it coming.  Thought he looked slow when he came back into the Dees side last year, and unless he has found a yard of pace, may be found wanting at the higher level.  Got plenty at VFL level.  Very happy to be proved wrong, as he did nothing but his best to serve at the MFC.

The unanimous comments of support from posters regarding this news is a great tribute to the footballer and the man.

Universally liked and admired.

Will just play a role.

Steady half back. Lacks pace but heart and soul are strong.

Hope he one day comes back to MFC in a coaching or managerial role.  A great young bloke

Kind of sad that his good mate Watts won't get to play with him.

Brought it on himself I suppose.

Indeed!  But, no doubt, Wattsy will be rapt for his mate, just the same!  Remember, it was Watts who was one of the main guys who orchestrated that big hoop & holler at training a coupla years back when Trenners did his first running on his come back trail.  And, apparently, Watts also had a part (who knows how big) in convincing Port to draft Trenners.

Trenners now and James Macdonald playing for the Giants are the only times I've felt really positive to ex Demons still playing. Go well Jack.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
