I still blame Cam Schwab

Jack Watts was instrumental in our win last year so surely it was his fault for not being there.

I reckon it all comes back to the preseason camp. Adelaide did the right thing by completing theirs.

Unless we actually win the flag there will be some who will harp on about this. Even then if we win by 10 goals they will say we would have won by 20 had we been to camp.

Bex (compound analgesic) Bex was a strong compound analgesic which was popular in Australia for much of the twentieth century. It came in the form of APC (aspirin–phenacetin–caffeine) tablets or powder, containing 42% aspirin, 42% phenacetin, plus caffeine.

The phenacitan was an anti-inflammatory as I recall that killed off kidneys (and thus sometimes their owners) and was banned maybe in the 1960s

Well that’s a bit boring, I reckon the all-suffering Dees supporter would need something a little stronger.

If you believe that we are cactus, go and enjoy your time elsewhere.  All us supporters have is hope, we dont have future knowledge of the future.  If you ain’t got hope, you ain’t a supporter.

I don’t know where we will end up, but I have HOPE that we will stay in the 8.  I have more HOPE than I have had in previous years.  Its a tough ride, but I have FAITH that the highs will be worth it...

I will stand by my post earlier in the year we still will not make finals again.

Until this club decides like Geelong did in 2007 to mean something and change, its the MFC of old.

Well go and follow Geelong then. Take a chill pill.

that's the spirits buck_nekk.

I think that Monday's game result won't effect us one way or the other, come September.  Except the next few weeks we might be a bit sharper.

The Lever loss has shaken us a bit, Re our goal to goal line.

But in the long run, it will make us stronger, when we turn over another find.

There were some things that troubled me deeply about Monday.

I've done my spiel on Lewis.
I'll add a few others:
- Daniher's speech to the players going public, I didn't like that, I would like to see that kept behind closed doors
- Goodwin's ski clothes - mocking his own members
- Collingwood playing for a guy with MND far more than we were playing for Neale
- Good players unable to deal with big game pressure
- A team built for one particular style and light on for defensive substance across all 3 areas of the field

I still think we have a long way to go in building the club and team that has an identity to draw on. Maybe the team finds it's identity and the club then swings in to gear. That seemed to happen with Richmond and the Dogs, from almost nowhere the team is winning and the club has a great feel to it. The Dogs have now completely lost that by the way.

Nath Jones' 250th was a nice club moment, we need to keep that stuff rolling. I'd like to see Goodwin be less clinical and more emotional and I'd like to see a bit less 'brand' and bit more 'club'.

It's not just that we lost. It's the way we lost. The circumstances. Queens Birthday was a massive Day so there was no question about whether the players would go in unprepared (9 day break) or under-estimating Collingwood (Pies were in good form and the occasion overules it anyway). One injury to Jake Lever was enough to cause problems, but not to get comprehensively smashed like we were. We can forgive bad games earlier without Viney and McDonald when MFC was finding its feet, but this was after a 6 win streak, on the biggest stage. Collingwood were well below us. Couldn't we be at least competitive???

I can't explain what happened, outside of lack of experience, the Pies being Amazing, and us just being an Average Team. Far from the Flag contention glory we'd set ourselves up for. To think if we'd won we'd be 2nd on the ladder and then to not even come out and fight for it - shows we are WAAAAAY off being competitive with the best teams in the competition.

There still seems a bad smell about the rest of the season with the club ?

Check your sock drawer.

If that doesn't solve the issue, I can only assume your nose is too close to your date.

Exactly, aren’t we all tried of hearing the terms “ a lot of work to do and long way to go”. This stuff has been said since Dean Bailey days and seems that we have made little progress, the club still appears to be in some form of shambles. Watch us capitulate bad after the Darwin game.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
