Fat Ed wants QB as a Collingwood home game.

Yes, they can alternate on QB in future and since we're now a draw card,  we'll alternate with them for the first Friday night game of each season.

As it stands Collingwood probably make more money out of the QB clash as the away team than we do as the home team ... based on their (roughly) 20,000 premium $1k 18 game memberships and their money making capabilities out of their exclusive use of the Western Stand.  They also make similar monies out of their other away games in Melbourne so it's not just us.

If the QB home team ends up in rotation we could simply do what all the other Victorian clubs do - request a home game against Collingwood in another round.  And if we miss out in any given year we could pursue other home fixtures against the other big Vic clubs.

My position on this is very simple, this is an equaliser for Collingwood getting preferential treatment when it comes to fixturing for Friday/Saturday nights. I am more than happy to share the home team’s year to year but Collingwood then FORFEITS at least two to three Friday/Saturday nights which then go directly to us.

They want to talk about equal sharing well they have been given an armchair ride by the AFL for exposure to prime time slots which is one of the key factors to being attractive to sponsors. So those should be our minimum terms.

Typical Eddie ' fat pig' Maguire wants everything but willing to give away nothing. I hate this pig and his is a big reason why I want us to smash the filth.

There needs to be some quiet adult discussion about ALL the so called blockbusters including the Derbys.

They have for some time been seriously compromising the draw for no reason other than the pursuit of money.

Friday nights need to given out on  a pre agreed merit formula or rotated.

Don't think anyone is going to do MFC any favours ... we are just the bunny in the headlights at present

He has gifted the home game to us for years.

I don't get the hate.

Only due to the fact they get everything else. If the got Queens birthday too it would be an absolute disgrace.

Next year we will be the away team on both Anzac day eve and Queens birthday hurting our hip pocket.

He's right. The game should be alternated.

Next year we'll be away on both ANZAC Eve and QBD. But that doesn't mean we can't get a home game against Richmond or Collingwood as a return game earlier/later in the year. It also doesn't mean we can't play Essendon, Carlton, Hawthorn or Geelong in home games at the G.

The year after we should remain away on QBD but get ANZAC Eve at home again, and then from 2021 onwards they can alternate.

I don’t hate him and I appreciate the gesture but you’d be naive to think if you think he did it purely out of the goodness of his heart.

There has long been the discussion of equalising the draw when it comes to prime time slots and by “gifting us” the QB match every year we’ve stayed silent but now that we’re more attractive and SHOULD get more prime time exposure he doesn’t want us to keep the fixture.

As I said, if Collingwood forfeited say two prime time slots in return I’ll be happy with that. But until that inequity is addressed there is no reason why we should give this up.

I’ve always been of the opinion that our MND round should be against Essendon. It is clunky to do it on QB where Collingwood have no part.

So no problems that the Pies share QB with us and then we can finally get a potential blockbuster home game against the Bombers

So Is E'd going down the slide, in the deep freeze ???

Lets hope he doesn't wear his catholic cloke, or that arze may drop out of it.

Are you people serious? You have to be so naive to think the arrangement was out of the goodness of Eddies heart. The number of times I've heard  the toothless mouthing off about the MCG being their ground and how we should F off to Etesh**.  F sharing, F*** Collingwood and F *** Eddy.

Well then you're not a real Dee. You only have to look at what you wrote " Eddy has gifted this game to us for years" So we are beholding to Collingwood are we? Need a sign that says bend over here?

This has got me really fired up, to be clear, WE SHOULD NOT BE THE APOLOGETIC DEES.

Sorry we have been so pathetic the last few decades, you should really take something off us now we might be a threat, please Mr Eddy can we have some more.

Not naive at all. I analyse the fixture everyear and have seen the armchair ride the pies often get. A lot of this comes down to teams requesting to play the pies at the g. Much like we do with Queens Birthday.

We are given the takings from the game out of charity. More than happy for them to have it back. We are not a rabble anymore.

and that's why we need to get rid of the compromised fixture.

The likes of Collingwood and Richmond will only grow more powerful if it continues.

Follow the money

given the extraordinary money spent on TV rights the broadcasters need ROI and unfortunately that means eyeballs. Until now, not us

as others have said they need to show dees V other big games

it's not just vic though - in northern NSW we often don't get any AFL broadcast whilst 7s 35 digital channels are showing ice truckers Canada, ice truckers Alaska, navel gazers Costa Rica and pimp my ride hoppers crossing.either that or we have the freo Carlton blockbuster on prime time whilst there's a much better option. So much for growing the game outside vic by either showing pus games or no games

so it's not just the draw but what games are broadcast

on Collingwood I am fine alternating with them starting 2020 so next year we have home on QBW and away on Anzac eve and switch them thenceforth.

as others have said CFC will have to give a Friday game up - maybe Carlton can be slung out of one of their 50 Friday night games

you have got to hand it to Eddie - he does what he is paid to do and does it wrll

What’s this crap about Ed/Collingwood’s “generousity”? I just vomited in my mouth. The AFL do the fixturing, not Collingwood. It is not, and never has been up to them. It’s been in their interests to agree because it guarantees them a “big stage” away game in Melbourne, on their home ground.

I’d be quite happy to see the gate split, or the home allocation alternated, so long as it meant Collingwood had to travel to Perth or Brisbane once more a year as a result, since that is the other side of the equation.

It is more complex than alternating.  If they pick this up as a home game, we have to get one back and they have to lose another.  It’s like a jigsaw.  The Anzac Day, drugtime and other marquee games would probably have to be put into the mix, so that it can all work out.

eddie believes he runs the AFL.  Perhaps he does.  It is not about his charity, it is about fixture maximisation.  This is just a self important whinge from fat fingers Maguire.  Dees need to no longer be victims of others agendas, but start setting the agenda ourselves.

We will soon find out if Gill still has any aggots

I have no problems with the game alternating, but we must be given a better fixture with Victorian Clubs

Getting rid of the “fixture” would crush the equalisation fund. Crush that and teams like St Kilda, Bulldogs, North and Melbourne are finished.

That’s not a debate you are going to win, you don’t have the numbers. First, you need to build your crowds, memberships & net profits - all very trivial I understand.

AFL assisted you in survival by selecting CEO, Board and facilitating key coaching appointments.

But is over to you now - best of luck.

make queens birthday between MFC and EFC and alternate, makes sense with the reverend having ties with both clubs. Why couldn't MFC and CFC play on mothers day weekend? could sell pre game lunch to families, have the lunch on the ground as an experience etc etc

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
