Re-read my post .......I am aware that if we aren’t told the reason then a player is fair game for criticism....I will not repeat what I know as it’s not my information to pass on ....however there is an extremely good reason & has nothing to do  with Jayden ‘s application or desire for the footy & that is all I will say on the matter !

You don't have to tell us outright Deestar - just pick a number from one to three.

Jayden has:

1) a bout of salmonella from a carton of unpasturised Nippys?

2) contracted chlamydiosis from a tawny frogmouth?

3) been suffering itchy-scalp syndrome from excessive head-band use?

No change

Sensible move from the club. No need to change a 109 point winning side.

Obviously Tommy Mac is no certainty but hopefully he gets up!

I'm shocked Garlett's not playing since his Aunt designed this week's strip.

Call me naive, but I honestly thought it was set up for Spargo to be rested and Garlett return for a little sentiment.

I think the entire footy world has forgotten how good Adelaide are, despite missing a few best 22.

Only 4 weeks ago they beat Sydney in Sydney with an even more depleted side than the one they're putting out Sunday.

80% of the media has gone for us which is incredible.

Would be one of the great wins of recent years if we get it done this week.

I don't think they have forgotten, last Friday night Adelaide smashed the Dogs and whilst I'm not the biggest fan of many in the football media I don't think their memory loss is as bad as you say.

I just think many see us as the better team, it's a game we are expected to win.

Lets hope we do.

Need to earn your spot Garlett would know this, I’m sure he is proud that his teammates are wearing the jumper

Any news about who is travelling with the team as emergencies.... I assume it is at least Garlett and Pedersen.

Would like to see Hunt and Tyson down at Port tomorrow if possible.

So if my Aunt designs next weeks Guernsey then I'm an automatic inclusion in the forward pocket?

Don't be silly, BBP. We play to win, not for sentimentality.

Well he's young, therefore he get's tired, expect for the time when he is also young and therefore full of exuberance and pep. Also he is young and doesnt have leadership skills, except for the time when he is also young and not blighted by our losses.

Wasn't there something about a back problem during the pre season?

Great teams are ruthless. Sentiment is for losers. Garlett would still be in the team if he had chased like a maniac and put his head over the ball early in the year. Spargo has and continues to run out games as a first year player. Whilst we continue to reward the right team first behaviours and demote those that can't live up to them until they prove they can we will continue to improve.

If she comes up with a navy blue jersey with an inverted crimson triangle coming down from the shoulders, she might be on to something.

The battle between our forwards and their backline will go a long way to deciding the outcome of this game.

They have one of the best back six in the game, one that is highly discipline, good in one on one situations and they can also generate turnovers and plenty of run from half back.  On the flip side, our forward line is in peak form at the moment with our ability to generate inside 50's, keep the ball in there and apply pressure that creates turnovers for us.  This may change slightly with T Mac potentially missing the game, but I still believe we can easily kick a winning score without him.

Use the ball well going forward and sticking to our structures, while not allowing them to run the ball out easily, will put us in a great position to win the game.  We're fit, we're in form and I see no reason why this can't continue on Sunday afternoon.

a number of reasons imc.

One to return Garlett this week, and to give the lad a week off, then back next week, (to freshen him up ahead of the QB game)...  both Spargo and Garlett in the side against the Bulldogs.

Then we can see how the lineup looks, ahead of the Q/Birthday game... Re selection for that Matchup.

After that, we enter the bye, and then the All important run home.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Hawthorn

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
