Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

Oliver not fit enough we can’t keep playing him, until he gets back to a reasonable fitness level back to vfl.

Jeffo not ready for AFL

Fritsch needs to go back to vfl for real this time.

Langford looks like he will be an absolute gun

The game should have been over at 3/4 time. We dominated the middle part of the game and missed 8 easy shots at goal

Another last quarter masterclass by us AFTER another masterclass performance in goal kicking.

U reap what you sow.

FFS ANOTHER SEASON WASTED.

But don’t worry it gets easier next week with the lions at the Gabba 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Free kick Hawthorn

Straight sets Hawthorn they are no good. Fake top 4 team.

Poor goalkicking.

Wasted opportunities.

Last quarter fade out

(Copy and paste from any game, really)

Umpiring was corrupt but it’s not why we lost. We were in it at 3Q but didn’t turn up. Again. Apparent we are not a real team and won’t beat any real teams this year. Blood the kids, get ready for 2026

Lost at selection, should have played Oliver

Oliver did play Adonai 😜

I reckon Goodwin outcoached Mitchell today but if your players can’t kick straight from 30m it doesn’t matter what tactics you use

Season over for all practical purposes.

Only thing keeping my interest is denying Essendon a high draft pick.

Continual injuries haven't helped but there's little joy to be had this year

Please Dees, just give me 4 quarters of pressure like the first three, and accurate goal kicking when we have the game on our terms …….. and an even hand from the umpires would also be nice, thank you very much!

Typo

I'll say the worst umpiring I've seen in a long time., muppets.

But it was all the regulation set shots we missed in the 2nd and 3rd that cost us the game.

Otherwise that was the best team effort we have played all year as a team. There is still the issue of 4th qtr fadeouts to work on.

Only a wasted if we were a chance to start with, club needs to make some hard calls on some players so we can move fwd

In my distant youth an accidental trip was a free and a deliberate trip is a suspension. What is it now?

We probably should have gone into 3qtr time 5 goals up unfortunately

Our inability to develop a key forward post Neitz needs to be studied.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
