Shame about the weather in Mebourne and that Benjamin is not playing but it's great to have a couple of good teams playing on Friday night.

Hawks should do it but the Swans have a way of doing the unexpected.

From an MFC viewpoint I'm tending towards a Hawthorn win as it will bring the Swans firmly into that 6-12 category. (Have almost given up on us vying for top 4 so the big 4 whoever they are may as well power away. Win them all up till the bye and my optimism might return.)

I'm still hopeful of a top 4 finish and am hoping the Swans, GWS, North, Port and Pies all get up as well as the Lions, Blues and Saints!   Go all the underdogs, Suns excepted!

clarkson is clearly the modern coaching marvel

There's an article in the Hun purporting a 12 week mini rebuild miracle.

Oh they're a lucky team at Hawthorn ?

Certainly looks that way - must also be a tremendous motivator for the players. His Demon heritage is on show!

I think the hawks will just win and tomorrow it would be fantastic if the blues knocked off there bombers. The pressure on the club and the coach would swell and it would wreck there week for there 1993 reunion.

Hawks look good, but a long way from great.  Not convinced by a lot of their younger players and the players that are coming in are not as good as the players departing.

Finals team, not a premiership team.

(Would give my right and left to have Clarkson at the Dees though)

Hawthorn having one of our quarters. Dominating but then concede a goal every time the other team goes inside 50.

What do Sydney do that they keep developing all these kids into potential superstars?

There recruiting is top notch and they don’t rush them into AFL footy

Who do we hope wins?

1) Always nice to see Hawks lose.

2 a) if Sydney lose we go ahead of them if we win

2 b) Sydney have a soft 4 weeks coming up so they’ll be hanging around top 4 by late June even if they lose 2nite.

IMO Sydney will win.

Except they kinda do - Ronke is another rookie selection for them who has debuted early the year after being recruited, like Papley before him, and seemingly half their backline

Then there’s Florent and Hayward, plus academy gifts like Heeney and Mills

Irs just extraordinary the way they come on so quick up there

The amount of times Frawley hasn’t killed the spoil tonight is staggering. Jelly wrists.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
