Really like the look of the team that Brisbane’s putting together.  They’re still a few years off finals, but they have some real quality across the board.

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Lions due to a family connection and am glad to see them starting to both retain and attract some talent to the club.

Hodge is a fantastic acquisition for them just as Daniel Cross was for us.

Next week will not be easy up there, and definately not a shoe in as many have predicted.

They match up against us well and always step up for our games.  Will be tough, especially if their midfield gets their eye in.

Gee, the ball movement from both teams here is snail-like.

St Kilda rely too heavily on Savage's disposal off half back.

If Brisbane beat us next week we will not make nor deserve to make finals.

Because of a loss in round 2?

Nah.

agreed

i'm half expecting us to start the year 1-2 but we should still be right in the mix to play finals regardless of the result in the first three games (admittedly, 0-3 wouldn't be great but 3-0 would sure help!)

luke hodge looks bizarre in a fitzroy jumper

Watts has scored a goal.

Hand back AAMI & Gosch, plough Casey and sow it with salt, deregister the playing list and put them in the draft. Dissolve the MFC and offer our place at the G to Essendon.

We have no right to participate in the AFL.

Saints will end up winning just because I don’t want them to, but they look putrid.

I can’t thank St Kilda enough for taking McCartin.

He looks ready to explode.

Not in a good way.

Watts still the same. Always out of position and hovering around the pack.

Reliable average player who uses the ball well but usually not a game changer.

Unlike Hogan he wont impose himself and simply get the ball.

McCartin was probably the right pick at the time problem is the games changed doesn’t suit the big forward if that’s all you can do

Petracca was the right pick at the time.

The Saints drafted for ‘needs’ rather than ability.

Saints steadied well in the end here, but at the same time, you would be slightly disappointed as a Saints fan.  Outside of a few players like Steven, Billings and Acres, they have looked very average.

Lions had a dip but they are still light on for talent.  They'll be pretty good in a few years time.

He wasn’t the right pick, they way overrated their midfield.

Petracca is a better forward too. So he would’ve filled 2 holes.

The only hole McCartin fills is his mouth.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
