  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Cards....this is Victoria, where bail conditions, restraining orders, etc are pretty meaningless and criminals laugh and walk free.

Not just Victoria. In WA a breach of bail is seen as a minor offence, generally the penalty is a minor monetary fine. Likewise a breach of VRO. There’s suppose to be a three strike policy which results in the offender being incarcerated but it’s rarely enforced.

I suspect a psychological assessment may be reasonable. I don't claim to be a psychologist, or know much about the law, but Sylvia has consistently done some pretty stupid things in the past decade. We have not only heard whispers, but actually have evidence of this bloke being a tool. Perhaps there is a psychological aspect that needs to be looked at. The bloke ain't right. Fair enough he has never grown up, but without knowing him, he does seem a little off.

Seems totally reasonable considering the charges and comment from a poster who said they saw him the same day wandering around south bank.

Its just pretty jarring to see that the court thinks he needs to be mentally assessed.

Terribly sad, and one with such terrific potential, once. Let's stop the name-calling and redundant criticism of him to allow those about him, and himself, recover and reset his wheels. He did many very good things for us as supporters, remember? AFL pressure is something that I would think few of us could endure, at best.

On the footy field he was a wasted talent. However, there are many out there who never fulfill their potential and talent. That's sport and that's life.

However, his off-field stuff is a major problem.

From all accounts, he can be a very pleasant and nice guy. Some years ago when I was bemoaning his wasted footy talent, a friend who knew him off the footy field told me that he was a lovely guy who had great respect for family and friends.

However, it appears from his actions that there is another side.

Many of us have a bit of a JekyIl and Hyde character, at least in a mild or moderate way. Behaviours and actions can vary from appropriate to inappropriate or from good to bad. How often do you hear family or friends say "that's  not like you".

The downside can involve risk taking, poor judgement, extreme or inappropriate conduct. And of course, in Mr Hyde's case, much worse. Actions show that there is no recognition or acceptance of societal or personal boundaries.  Today, a psychiatrist would say that Mr Hyde suffered from mood swings. Highs and lows. The condition is not helped with alcohol or illicit substances, but these substances are a symptom of the condition.  Mr Hyde was clearly a psychopath as are all serial killers. Violent people can be very charming, and, at times, gentle people can become violent when they are consumed by psychopathic rage. No one is suggesting that of Colin.

However, many of us suffer from mood swings that can be mild or moderate. Most people can live happily and have family and friends and be able to function normally in society.

Some people never improve and their life takes a downward spiral leading to the breakdown of personal and family relationships, inability to hold down a job, breaking the law, and, in extreme circumstances,  self harm and prison. Our jails are full of people who would not be there if they had sought help, been helped and they had been treated for their mental health conditions (rather than been viewed as bad people who need to be jailed).

Unfortunately, our jails are not mental health institutions and only the extreme cases get treated. It's why so many prisoners never make it back to a normal life.

The ones who improve do so by way of a personal epiphany (this is the value of organizations such as AA) or by way of treatment and medication.

Highly talented. Wasted.

He owed the club, supporters better, on the ground as a player. Hope he learns the lesson in life. I hope in time we see him himself back in some involvement in the football circle.

What do you expect him to do when he “Returns”?

i don’t want him anywhere near the club

we are not a retirement refuge

Colin has had chance after chance and he just keeps f&@$ing up, exactly the same as his football career

the outside world is not a safe place for Col...

I did not say come back to our club, just the thought of him being in a football environment somewhere might do him good. Spare him. You  don't seem like a hard person. I have read your quotes and l quite enjoy some of your writings. Take it as you like, IMO.

Mate the last time Colin was near a Football environment (Fremantle) he couldn’t wait to run away after signing a contract.

He can’t handle hard work. We should all know that, the MFC carried him for 9 years, made me angry.

(and yes i know he visited lots of kids in hospital, but that wasn’t his reason for employment)

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
