We have laid our cards on the table with Watts, we are not in a great position to negotiate for value trades, that is my argument against Goodwin's strategy. It is not about whether we move Watts on or not, it is how we have telegraphed our opinion on his value, that is zilch, he is gone.

Well Dogs have done the same with Stringer and are now saying pick under 10 or he stays.

I'd do it. I'd also move Hunt forward. I'd love to see Hunt, Rohan, Garlett and Hannan harassing opposition defenders. We need to create a point of difference forward of the centre to complement our strong contested ball winning midfield.

Rohan is a perennial finals failure and that is exactly the type Goodwin doesn't want.

Exactly, just like us. That is my point.

While I really enjoy this footy period of the year, as we haven't played finals in so long, it is also a bit frustrating as well, as so much is written/speculated that never eventuates.

Rohan or Tippett for Watts.  I would keep Wattsy.

Let me be clear here. I would prefer to keep Watts too.

From what we are hearing so far in the draft we have:

- watts given away for a second round pick.

- Lever being paid more than Max, Viney, or Jones, plus our first two picks in the draft

- Hogan going home to Fremantle for not very much.

- Trengove, Kennedy and Spencer being given away for nothing when each has potential currency.

Doesnt  look too too good to me. I am prepared to call it now that to me the Lever trade will have the destabilising effect on our young list which will see much of our brilliant midfield and the best big man in the league walk out when their contracts are up. I think it is that serious.

This Post was supposed to bring that to a head, not as a serious suggestion re Jack Watts, but under these circumstances Tippett might have some value and won’t destroy our young list at the same time. At least he has played some good football in the past, and we could get him for very little.

This trade period  for me is looking like we are going back into the pack as a perennial mid lister.

It is not looking good!!!

None of these players has any currency.

I doubt any will be picked up by another club but maybe Jack will get a shot, rookie most likely and no one trades in a rookie.

Don't worry hogans not going home, and if he were to go,they will pay heaps first and second picks at the minimum, totally different to lever, hogan under contract we have the upper hand, their is no rumor with hogan, just because a team wants a player does not make it a rumor, unless hogan has told someone he want out, which has not happened, purple has no knowledge of this he is just throwing it out there because its a good story, as they say don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Apparently we are after a second round pick for Watts.

And if we get anything better than a mid third, there will be much rejoicing and praise that our satanic majesty has indeed favoured us mightily.

I propose we trade this thread for pages 114-121 of the Jack Watts thread. Would cover the loss of the last four pages and give us something to switch to when we need a break from pages 215+ of the Jack Watts thread.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
