Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jack Trengove, Jake Spencer, Mitch White and Liam Hulett de-listed

Sad to see Trenners go. Glad he got to play again after injury but he wasn't up to it. Hope he's still a Melbourne person.

Spencer just was never up to AFL standard. Finally they made the call on him. 10 years on our list. Jeepers.

White I thought could play, but his body didn't hold up and he was a bit fumbly and slow. Had he been healthier and played more regularly - particularly last year - I think he might've made it but now we have depth in the half back flankers there's no reason to keep him. Better to turn the list over.

Hulett just didn't come on after a promising first year. I think the biggest issue was he didn't have AFL level endurance and guys who are in shape and train ok but don't have endurance often never find it. He was never going to be super quick or athletic so he needed to run all day and that didn't seem to happen.

good break down. I think its interesting to reflect back on players in the past that didnt make the grade. At the time they are often praised and worshiped on this board but when they get delisted theres not a peep from anyone.

why did people think that the following players simply werent up to afl standard:

- Bate

- Morton

- newton

-strauss

- tapscott

- blease

-maric

Sad to see Jack Trengove's career with us end like this. Cruelled by injury, still did everything and more to try and get back, but wasn't to be. We'll never know what he could have been.

Hard to see any AFL club picking him up, but has leadership and footy smarts. Too early for a coaching career, and still goes OK ...  player-coach at a lower league?

All the best Jack.

No surprises here.

Thankfully the Jake Spencer experiment as a backup ruckman is finally over. 38 games in 10 seasons says it all.

White showed something, but injury prone and lacks pace. We are now well stocked for half backs.

The club did the right thing by giving Trengove every chance, but he just wasn't up to returning to his best.

Hulett always looked like a good suburban footballer. Surprised when he was drafted, but unsurprised he's been delisted.

Agree with that, though Spencer was decent as a backup this year for the couple of games he played.

The one amongst them who could perhaps get a rookie spot somewhere might be White. We're over-run with HBF types.

I hope that the delisting of Spencer means the club has some confidence in the development of Lachie and Mitch King.

I didn't see a lot of him and sounds like he was still getting beat up by experienced players but Mitch King's body started looking stronger and more athletic towards the end of the year. I'd expect he'd have a pretty good preseason and be an ok 3rd choice ruck if really needed - not many clubs 3rd string guy is all that good anyway.

I truly think Tom McDonald is a very decent 2nd string ruckman if needed so if the club has faith in the key position spots I wouldn't panic over the need for a better 2nd string option.

I'd still trade/free agent/draft a mature player to be the 2nd option guy but I wouldn't stress about it.

No it just means that they have no confidence in Spencer. I would imagine that we'll recruit or rookie a mature aged ruckman.

I don't see this at all... I reckon he is an absolute dud. I'd be shocked if another club took him as a rookie... Slow, lacked composure, was a so called 'good user' yet only ever turned it over... Was the first on my delisting list

So sad to see Jack go.  He fought so hard to come back and play.  A testament to his dedication.

Good luck, Jack.  You'll always be a demon favourite.

My favourite Jack moment was the tackle on Danger:)!

Thanks Trenners. Lady luck wasnt on your side, but who knows what your future holds.

Spencil. Less than 4 games a year for a decade isnt a great resume. Was serviceable at best when it came to the big leagues.

White had a few chances and never really impressed.

And i really thought huelett would come on after a great start for casey. Oh well.

So that's our 4 senior list spots (when you include Lumumba) and a rookie spot now free.

Now we head to the trade table for phase two.

Joel Smith signed earlier in the year, so eats up one of those four.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
