I would never delist Bugg - he's exactly what we need. And I'd never trade Watts. Vince is still very handy.

How do we need a spud that's only a thug? Watts has run out chances he must be put on the table. Vince should retire.

One last time. Watts. Is. Contracted.

Trade can only happen if he wants it to happen. So he 'cant be put on the table'.

The only leverage the club has is threatening to play him in the vfl. This might work with say spencer who is likely to play vfl anyway and might want more opportunity. But with a player of watts' talent it is a bit cutting off your nose to spite your faceish.

A player on the other hand - if contracted and wanting out - can threaten not to try. Which no club wants.

Papers stamped.

Liam Hulett: He had four disposals, four tackles and two inside 50s. Liam didn’t have any impact on the game and went missing for long periods. He didn’t give us a real threat forward of the ball, so it was a disappointing performance from Liam.

I think they were stamped long before this game.  They even tried him down back and that didn't work either.

Oh Mandee...

Moonie, coming from Man sfield  my 1st choice for a name on DLand was DeeMan obviously,  unfortunately it was taken. So without really thinking I tried ManDee, it was available so that will do. Now I have Barry Manilow nightmares, yes more than before. Thanks for reminding me. At least "I came and I gave without taking"

PS: I will not kiss you and stop you from shaking.

You can trade a player that's under contract as long as it's not the first year of his contract like JKH, Stretch and Frost can't be traded.

If all parties agree, surely a trade can happen in first year of contract, otherwise it's restraint of trade, eg.Boyd to WB

After today, Trengove and Spencer are gone. Spencer showed nothing. Rather persist with King and bring in Meese as Gawns backup.

Think you'll find 2018 might be close to Pedo's last.

If he had to play 20 games next season then I'd agree.  But if he ends up just being a handy depth player, filling a few gaps throughout the season when needed, then we might be able to squeeze an extra year out of him.  He hasn't played as much footy to this point as others have, so he has a little more mileage left in the legs.

Pedo will play most games next year if fit, especially if Spencil leaves. Weid will need to come on suddenly for Pedo to be usurped. Still, stranger things have happened.

If we get Lever that should allow T.McDonald to go forward we probably won't need Pedersen.

Pretty harsh comment on Pedo.

He has a had a great year! Showed alot of ticker! He gives a consistent contest and holds his own. Would be a coaches favourite. He is only 30 and durable. Great work ethic and versatile!

Pedo is my first picked at the selection table. You know what you are going to get from him.

Just like Daniel Ward and Nathan 'Doggy' Brown when they were playing...

Watching todays game I was impressed with Stretch's game. He has developed his inside game well over the second half of the year at VFL level. He can still make it. JKH and Spencer were woeful unfortunately. I will be surprised if JKH gets another senior game. Magner has had a good year too and if he keeps developing as he should will get his chance next year. Bugg can still offer something but will probably only ever be about top 26, not top 22. Still you need a top 33 to have genuine depth.

I was surprised by Richmonds depth. It's always hard to beat a VFL side that is still alive in the AFL as all the seconds players still hold hope to get a game in the seniors.

They had Conca, Lloyd, Griffiths, Miles and a couple of others. That Morris is a dog. His only skill is smashing into blokes trying to injure them. Sheedy would recall him to his Grand Final side just to go head-hunting.

Maybe, but unless I'm mistaken, he's signed for another year.

If you look back you'll see that I've been a big fan of Pedo on here. Got into many a stoush with stuie defending the big fella.

Cam will be 31 when the 2018 season starts. I'd love him to play for 5 more years, but I don't think longevity is his bag. That was my point.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
