fmd, do umpires get swabbed?

[censored] blatant, isn't it? The AFL don't even pretend to hide what outcome they want.

Can't wait to read the final free kick tally tonight. Meth Coast 35, Crows 9?

Gee we have played this beautifully tanked against the pies. Once the crows win we avoid the swans and play port.

Well played Dees! :P;)

The same club that lost to Brisbane and has today barely squeezed past a side who lost its past two games by 104?

There were 4 points on offer in Round 23. Same as in the previous 22 Rounds.

Essendon doesn't "deserve" it any more than we do (if we make it) simply because they won in Round 23 and we lost.

If we make it, then we deserve it. If we don't make it, then we don't.

Essendon have had the softest draw imaginable and minimal injuries. AFL completely lack integrity. Despite the fact we're not good enough atm our season has been more impressive than the Bombers. Considering a catastrophic run with injuries, regularly being stitched up by the MRP, tougher draw and a much younger list to be level with them on wins is phenomenal.

Makes me sick that Essendrug will play finals.

Can only hope the Swans beat the living crap out of them in two weeks, if it unfolds that way.

Yes, and we also avoid Adelaide, GWS, Geelong, Richmond, Essendon and West Coast.

It is pure genius.

Edit - nevermind, missed the part where u said when the Crows win.  Now I dont feel so clever

Some would say either genius or luck from Jimma

You might want to rethink that after Port spanked GC

This could possibly be the worst weekend for Melbourne fans in a long time, for me it is anyway.

We have finally won more games than lost since 06 and now we are subjected to torment watching what other teams do and jumping us in the process.

As if yesterday wasn't bad enough, I can see the footy gods producing a 21 point win to the Eagles.

Please win Crows, please.

If they get up (or lose by less than 20) yesterdays game will instantly be irrelevant, and it will be party time for Demons supporters.

Richmond are playing some great consistent football. Unlike us.

What most don't realise is it took lots of years of disappointment for them to get where they are now.

In this now generation we want instant success. We are much like them in 2012.

Not ding. He'll still be sad and it will be made even worse by the fact that everyone else will have moved on.

Try 40 points. It'll be a training drill for Adelaide, they don't care about the result now they're locked into 1st.

I really hate to say this but Richmond are looking good.

Good luck to them! At least they're finally giving their fans some hope and delivering on expectations. Something we've consistently failed at doing for over a decade. Like Melbourne they've put their supporters through a decade of crushed spirits but they've turned a corner, a credit to them.

Geelong, Port, Sydney, Richmond, Essendon, Hawthorn. These were all teams that needed to win this weekend for one reason or another. They had something to play for. A champion to farewell, a top 4 spot on offer, a place in the finals on offer. They have all delivered when the heat was on.

Melbourne did not.

Gotta hand it to them, they've had  a great season.

And  credit to @dazzledavey36 who called them in preseason to have a big year while everyone else said they would suck  (well me anyway).

Now to end it perfectly they must go out in straight sets for the comedy factor.

Only got ourselves to blame for this stupid situation. I hope the players are sitting at home feeling sick to their stomachs right now having blown a golden opportunity to make finals.

Idiots!

Adelaide have bigger fish to fry. This game means SFA to them apart from training practice.

Are you barracking for West Coast tonight too Jaded? Then we can *really* punish the players!

It's probably me looking for anything positive, but I can't see the Crows being happy with going into the finals on the back of two losses.  They'll want to roll the Eagles, cost them a finals spot and head into the finals with at least a little bit of momentum.  That's what I'm hoping for, anyway.

What was Collingwood's motivation?

Sorry, i thought you were still talking about Essendon.

If WCE lose today, we still dont deserve to be there. Them losing will not make us more worthy regardless. Our finals participation will be by default only.

Its not about whether we "deserve" to be there at all!! Its about playing a FINAL. Something that hasn't happened in the history of our current playing list. The guys need the experience to BUILD on ....its all about 2018. Starts now.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
