To lose someone who finished fourth in our best and fairest

He didn't finish 4th, it was 5th, and he won't go near that this year (and not only because of the game he missed either).

Stop kidding yourselves about how fabulous Watts is. Yes, he can be ... sometimes. He can also play so poorly he gets dropped to the seconds. He plays and trains well when he feels like it.

It's clear that the club - from the players to the FD - have had enough.

Much amused by the rising anti-Goodwin sentiment regarding a potential Watts trade. Some of the same folk who backed Neeld's tough-guy act on arrival. Imagine if Watts had asked Simon to be demoted to the VFL like he did with Roos? I don't think that would play with Simon.

I back anyone who represents the club to do the best they can at all times. I don't agree with the Watts trade, but i'll still back Goodwin. However i think it's going to be something many Melbourne fans will have against Goodwin if it's the wrong call.

Rumour I heard yesterday from a guy who has a good track record is that we have asked the question on kade Kolodjashnij as an outside midfielder.

I really rate him as a player and very much hope he’s on the money here.

Excellent disposal. I thought he would be destined for big things, but he has not delivered on his talent yet.

Has played his entire career on the half back flank. I doubt he would come cheap (trade wise)

How will we determine if it's the right or wrong call?

Jack's performances at his new club and how much we will lack a tidy player in a Jack Watt mold?

If his performances at his current club were up to scratch we wouldn't be having this discussion. If he plays better elsewhere, some of us might be correct in suggesting he never put in enough with us and it was time for him to go. See Jeremy Howe.

From my prespective Jack's performances are still good enough for our best 22. Judging his year after a couple bad weeks coming back from injury is stupid.

He has been inconsistent for 7 years and came back out of shape at the start of season

I disagree, i think his 2016 and 15 were good. This year it was dissapointing how it started, but i think he got back into the swing of things before his injury.

EDIT: I should add, no player plays perfect for 22 games. 2016 Jack was a big part of our forward line.

Apparently Jarman Impey was dancing with Melbourne players in the footy show revue, which obviously means nothing much, but he is on the trade table according to rumours and matches our need for pace and could release Hunt or Hibberd to play higher

It was Impey, Nev Jetta, Varcoe and SPS dancing to Boom! Shake the room.

Going by Demonland logic, that means Impey, Varcoe and SPS are a chance to play for Melbourne next year!  Quick, someone email Jon Ralph with the news!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
