Well everyone... we did it.  We made hard work of it and we would all have been as nervous as we have been all year.  But we did it.  We responded to a fortnight of very poor football and have kept ourselves in the frame.

I'm super proud of the club.  When the pressure was on we stood up to be counted and won - we are now back in the eight and in there with a huge chance of breaking the finals drought.

I'm emotionally and mentally exhausted, but gee was it worth it!  DEMONS!

We finally stood up when it counted.

Huge win, and with games to come vs Brisbane and Collingwood, missing finals would be a disaster.

Angus Brayshaw, what a return.

Also, Gus Brayshaw showed today not only what a quality player he is but how important he can be to our football side in the coming years.  Wonderful game and almost brought a tear to the eye to see him out there.

Welcome back Gus!  Back where you belong.

Was worried when he got the head knock but he went on with it.

Great four quarter effort from him and one of our best.

Well I've been critical of our leaders and older players all year.

Jones was superb. Pederson was fantastic. Lewis and Hibberd did everything they could - including some fantastic body on the line efforts in the last.

Well done lads. Makes me proud to be a Demons supporter.

Mr. Negative here,

Glad we won, but we were shithouse.

StKilda were just much worse.

The forward entries still a major concern, players bombing away when they should be looking around.

Pedo, well done, puts that ridiculous Pederson vs Weideman debate to bed.

Brayshaw, a great return game.

Hannan clutch.

That third quarter though was bad. We look cooked at this time of year. Hopefully fitness staff can do something about it this week.

Defining match. When the Aints got to within 4 points we were either going to fold (effectively going backwards) or make a stand. Great stuff Dees. Here we go.

Disagree, got lucky with some poor entries when we had clear options open.

An example is Lewis bombing in and Harmes taking a mark 2 on 1 when Weideman was all alone 40 out. There were many other times similar things happening but they get overshadowed because of individual efforts. I'm glad we have players capable of winning 2 on 1s but I'd rather we played a team game.

Lets not kid ourselves, StKilda were as bad as a I can remember a team in the 1st quarter.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
