If we lose tomorrow it doesn't matter who comes into contention as it will be season over.

Nah, if Port beat dogs and then Richmond beat st kilda we can make it with only beating bris and pies.

What's his kicking like? Decision making? I might go to next weeks game just to watch him

His kicking is 50/50, just like the rest of the Melbourne boys, but his decision making is usually pretty great.

They come up against Williamstown next week who are smashing the VFL this season, so I'm not expecting him to have a huge impact, but will be a good test for him, to see if he can maintain his form against the best.

On any level it was a stupid act.

He deserved every week he got. I have seldom seen that benefit the offenders team.

Michael Long and Dean Wallis send their 2000 GF regards.

From the VFL website-

CASEY DEMONS
Goal Kickers: B. Fritsch 4, Y. Zijai 3, B. Kennedy 3, L. Hulett, C. Salem, E. Morris, A. Ferreira, C. Porter, J. Kennedy-Harris, J. Watts
Best Players: D. Keilty, B. Kennedy, J. Trengove, C. Salem, B. Stretch, Y. Zijai

Was a great day out. I sat next to Sam Frost for half the game in the grandstands, and we had a good chat about him, Dec, and a few of the other boys who were playing (Salem, Kenno, Watts) Was pretty awesome.

Keilty is in AFL form, his last 2 months have been sensational. Last week and today were the 2 best game's I've ever seen him play. Being in the business end of the season, I doubt he'll get a debut, but keep an eye on him over preseason, and he might just become a great player for the Melbourne Footy Club.

Here's hoping. Would be great for him and great for us.

Who's the team with the biggest bunch of wingers?

Who's the team with the biggest bunch of appellants for anything and everything?

Who's the team that's favored by hair brained fat corporate posers who sit in the front row, of the MCG blowing biscuit pieces, and other bile, out of their orifices

Who cares less...........

Neither were as blatant as Bugg Mr Leg.

He will be remembered for his brainless act long after his limited ability.

Disappointing to hear Watts didn't play well, given where the club's at (finals a possibility) you'd think he'd play out of his skin to get back into the seniors.

Sorry if already mentioned - does today's win cement Casey in the finals?

How many more weeks of VFL pre finals?

IF Salem gets done how does that apply to AFL games if VFL season ends?

All very confusing.

Watts was fine, he got involved with quite a few scoring passages, particularly in the first half. He relieved King in the ruck and did quite alright.

Kielty was the best Casey player by a mile, impassable when the ball came in long.

Michael Long nearly killed Snake and Wallis put Green in hospital with a busted larynx.

I thought Snake was dead and I was only 20 metres from it. I wanted to jump the fence and king hit Long. It was one of the most disgusting things I have seen in football.

Don't compare that with Bugg's stupid hit.

How did King go?

King is coming along quite well. He held his own in the ruck against a behemoth from Carlton. His around the ground marking was better but could improve. He got his hands to a number of marks but didn't complete them. His hands are quite good in the contest and released his midfielders by hand a number of times. Definitely a work in progress but developing well.

Love your updates. Im curious about your convo with Sam Frost. He seems like such a weapon ie speed and size,  so personally I was surprised he was left out. DId he say anything you can share  about being omitted or about resigning?

What Didn't  play well??????

the team won I see and he was in it

Watts does not not win any game by himself but by crickey he improves any teams performance

i hope that Goody can incite the team to win without him tomorrow

This is a crucial game

Just going on what I'm reading. He's a class player and should dominate VFL, maybe there were boxes he needed to tick and he ticked them.

I guess we'll see with next week's selection.

Yesterday I had a look at 7plus and entered a Melbourne postcode and it worked.  When I have tried that in the past it hasn't worked, so no guarantees.

Just that his last month hasn't been great and needs to refind his form

Again, there's no pot-shotting going on here.

But clearly Watts is going to have to do better than "fine" at VFL level to get a call up for the ones.

Given he wasn't named in an extended 'best' list, I can't see how he's going to play next week. (Depending on injuries and performance against St Kilda today).

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
