Might be the new "426" . I'd guess that he keeps having set backs and rather than rush him for the now they're making sure he's ok for our run into the finals.

The bolded part is my thinking as well, Pates.  While I'd love him back in the side I'd much rather the club take a cautious approach and bring him back when he's ready so he is fit and firing for some crucial games at the end of the season.  No good rushing him back and having him re-injure it.

Upon watching the replay i noticed Hoges in quite a few passages and assists...just not the 'prime' mover as such.  I think he'll wind up the speedo as he gets fitter.

Because they are telling you. The trouble is, you don't want to hear what they're telling you.

There's nothing contradictory in "he should be right this week" and then "out for 3 weeks straight". 

Injuries are like that. Sometimes they come good quicker than the average, sometimes they take longer. In Jack's case, it's the latter.

Saw a fan post on Twitter that he spoke to Wattsy during the Blues game that it was getting better but he said he was still feeling it slightly in his hammy after running. Taking a while to heal I guess.

I think if they had treated it as a strain in the first instance he'd probably be ok by now but the premature run set it back a week.

It's also worth considering that we'd be flying him to Darwin and he'd have to play in 33 degree heat without a lot of conditioning. To me this all screams bad idea to bring him in, get him right for our final push into September.

Some missed tackles last week were not good enough.

Gawn is the current All-Australian ruckman. Different role to Pedo. T-Mac can play back as well.

Best you don't compare Pedo's form with what you dream Hogan will be in the future and what you wish Watts could be. I would play him ahead of Watts and Hogan at the moment. They are all different. I would play him ahead of Oscar any day of the year. He has a tighter turning circle, can take a grab, doesn't drop chest marks, can read the play and can hit a target.

Neither are the two I've picked to go out mate. If the club wants an inside mid then they have to pick Trengove. Tyson won't play IMO sand that's why I didn't pick him.

Well if he [Pedo] did miss he would be rested as (I think) Casey have another bloody bye this week.

And, as an aside re Darwin heat - high 20s around game time - maybe this would be less of a problem for minor soft tissue issues than a late game at the G in 5-10 degrees?  Don't know. Just speculating.

This is bordering on delusional. Watts in 12 games has kicked more goals than Pedersen has ever in any season.  I know goals aren't the only metric, but they are a pretty key one for forwards, I'd have thought.  Hogan kicked 40 goals in his first and second seasons at AFL level. It's not about what he could be in the future, it's about how good he is now.

Pedersen is still in the side because a) Watts is out injured, b) Hogan is rusty and c) as reward for his efforts during the season when our tall contingent fell apart.  He's a spare parts player.  One that played his role to aplomb, but still a spare parts player.

I'm a fan of Stretch but he seems to be lacking confidence at the moment. This was evident in the 3rd quarter in our back half in which prior to receiving a handball he took his eyes of the ball for a split second and resulted in a Carlton goal. I'm not suggesting Stretch shirked the issue, seemed more confused as what to do with the ball next.

You miss the point. Pedersen should be selected on form. Go back through the last eight or nine games and refresh your memory. What you are hoping for and what is actually happening appear to be different things. Now that is delusional.

For anyone who saw the Goodwin embrace of Kent post the Carlton win, it's clear he plays this week.  Yes he started slowly but he built in to the game and the defenisve acts were there....which is what Goodwin was looking for.  They gave Wagner another shot this week utilising the same thinking and he didn't disappoint.  They knew that all of Hogan, Kent and Smith would be underdone but it was a calculated risk to get some AFL match time in to them whilst hopefully still pulling off a win.
