AFL official Ali Fahour has been filmed committing a “sickening" king-hit attack on a rival.

Name all the ways Buggs hit was worse.

Please.

- 80m off the ball, when the ball was actually dead (compared to running 30m in to an all in brawl where there are other punches being thrown)

- Unsuspecting victim due to the environment/professionalism that is or should be shown by AFL level players (compared to the other victim who was standing right in the middle of a country footy all in brawl, who had just been dragged off a different opponent. Anyone that has ever played footy where there has been an all in would know that if you are standing in the middle of it, you're going to be targeted from all angles, especially if you've been seen getting dragged off an opponent).

- This incident being watched by 500k+ viewers, many of which are children, in a time slot that can generate extra revenue for the club (as opposed to amateur filming that someone would've sold to news outlets, which if it wasn't because of the Houli farce, this wouldn't have been brought to our attention, as proven by the fact "new" footage of previous games has been shown on Channel 7 tonight).

I understand that many won't agree, I can live with that. But at this stage, I'm yet to see an argument that has made me change my mind.

IN SOME WAYS. FFS.

I've stated previously that Fahour''s act was a bigger act of thuggery.

I was the main (perhap's only) one that said this, so I will reply. Anyone that rates someone punching someone in the head, 80m away from the ball, with sufficient enough force to knock the bloke out, who would absolutely have been unsuspecting, if they rate that "better" than a bloke who runs 30m in to an all in brawl and punches a bloke that was also unsuspecting, then I would equally say that they need to check their own value system.

Both are acts of thuggery, which I have previously said.  What Fahour did, sadly, happens most weekends at various levels. We are only hearing about this case because of who did it. If it wasn't him, this would have no air play whatsoever, like the umpteen other incidents like it each weekend.

Mills wasn't knocked out.

And Fahour's was far worse.  Doesn't excuse Bugg, but Fahour ran from a mile away to deck a bloke.  That's worse in my book.

Geezus dude, if you think that a king hit matters less because its country footy, then your regard for people isnt as high as you might think, and your view that somehow the number of TV viewers makes Bugg worse, well, im almost speechless. Bugg had also just been given some(minor) treatment by his victim, so the first point doesnt hold water either.

Thats some of the wildest straw-clutching i have ever seen on this site.

If the footage alone doesn't tell you that there was a massive difference in the incidents i dont know what will.

Behaviour unbecoming in bringing an organisation into disrepute

HELL NO.  This absolutely drives me up the wall.  The notion that an employer has the right to dictate the behaviour of their employees when they are not on the clock is utterly absurd.  It's the same as trying to punish an employee for something they post on Facebook or twitter.  Unless they are claiming to represent your business at the time you don't get a say in what they do when you are not paying them.  It doesn't matter that he holds a senior position with the AFL during the week, on the weekend he is a private citizen engaging in a recreational activity and what he does at that time is nothing to so with the AFL. If the media hadn't made an issue of his job, he'd just be another suburban footy thug getting suspended.

Does he need to be suspended?  Absolutely.

Should he be charged with assault?  Probably.

Should he be sacked for something that happened when he wasn't acting on behalf of the AFL?  HELL NO.

When I first watched the footage I assumed he was going to king hit multiple players. He had such clear intent and momentum, that I believed he was just going to go whack, onto the next - whack, etc. Then I heard that after he hit the first guy, that he actually tried to run away after that. Of course it is far worse than the Bugg incident. I think Fahour should definitely be doing time in jail over this. I heard he copped 2 weeks, that can't be right? Although, nothing in the minor leagues surprises me. I have seen it all in the minor leagues - from players gang bashing the oppositions best player leading into finals, to players smashing an opponents jaw to the extent that it had to be fully rewired. In the minor leagues if a player is any good, then he can expect to be king hit a few times throughout his career. That is accepted in the minor leagues. I quit those leagues many years ago. I have seen terrible things. I have never understand how people can be allowed to assault others just because they are on a football field. I never really rated football that highly, so have never really understood it. This Fahour thug should be in jail. Gil will probably give him a promotion.

Straw clutching? It's my opinion, clearly you and many others disagree, I don't really care.

But not once have I said I think king hits matter less in country footy. I actually called for a 12 month ban for what he did, and a 6-8 week ban for Bugg. Clearly that shows my thoughts on the 2 incidents in isolation.

Yet you actually used it as a reason you thought that the Bugg hit was worse.

Bugg was bad but the AFL employees was definitely worse, both in outcome AND intent.

...and it needs to be cleaned up. I'm sure it's better now than back in my day but it's still not great.

This was a poor advertisement for football 'Chazz', no matter how much spin you want to put on it.

This has nothing to do with Bugg and I don't know why you insist on linking the 2. Bugg is a whole different story.

An employee of the AFL, in an AFL sanctioned event...not a great look.

The sooner we see the back of this stuff the better.

I might agree with you if he was playing Baseball or another sport but he was playing football.

He works with the senior body that oversees the sport, local games are sanctioned and come under the umbrella of the AFL.

He not just another private citizen 'Ralph'...

I can only comment on what I 've seen and the EFL has improved drastically in this aspect. I think the barrier between a sporting field and on civvy street is gradually breaking down in terms of these acts, It's becoming more push and shove than king hits.

Advocate for Houli on a Tuesday and then king hit someone on a Saturday!

Seems like he is an AFL trained man.

He must be in for a promotion soon with that sort of approach .

Clearly he studied "The Method" theory of acting at some time.

You gotta "live the part".

This is where your confusion is. Not once have I said the hit was worse. I'm talking about the incident. But continue to make things up if you wish, it's just that that's when I lose interest in speaking to you.

The only thing I can think of is he is waiting for the verdict from the tribunal, but what a pathetic [censored] weak idiot for not making a stance earlier. Also, for incidents like Buggs I think the tribunal should act the very next day or even that night if a day game. The bandwagon brigade in the media fuel events way too much these days.

On reflection I think he should be sacked.

Certain employment comes with higher standards due to the very nature of the employment. Get done for .05 working for the TAC and you can expect to get the boot. You have heard umpteen times that police who are brought before the judicial system for major crimes get more severe penalties, not only for their crime but for "breaching community trust".

The AFL has a standard to maintain ( albeit a rather tarnished image) and it's employee's must act in a certain way pertaining to anything game or league related.

If he is still playing football he can't be more than early mid 30s... to have a senior executive role at that age is amazing...

dont get me started on xavier Campbell as essendons CEO at 34

Cameron Schwab was CEO at 24 I believe. Look how well that turned out.

The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
