Commentators and the media don't like this push and shove as well because the Bulldogs are the 'darlings' of the AFL.  I hope we keep this up in the second half and flush them down the toilet.

now now jnr let's play nice.

Ash has been on here long enough to deserve our respect. I'd simply reply to him by saying that if the Dog's players' want to duck, then Bugg's flop (and it was a flop) is fair game.

Obviously you guys are loving Bugg, but that was pathetic. Blind sides Easton Wood, then goes down far to easy for a free shot at goal.

Guess you can say it's smart play, but I don't think anyone wants that sort of behaviour or play rewarded with a goal.

Give it a rest..

Doggies in real strife in missing out on the finals

Nah stuff it mate, you take whatever you can get!

Bugg has his flaws and being an unlikeable bloke pays off from time to time.

MMM saying it's melksham on JJ all day. That's interesting.

Something has clicked with Oscar. Hibberd has really organised our defence.

intensity, tackling and smothers first class. We are playing like a well structured team. Great coaching Goodie.

He is smashing JJ at the minute as well.  May not being doing much on the stat sheet but JJ has had no influence on the contest.

I like. I like.

Since 2016, we have been unsociable. We niggle. We scrag and we talk trash.

Point in case: Watts strolled up to Johannisen and gave it to him. Plus, it didn't look contrived. Jack looked natural doing so. Not Jack Viney natural but he didn't look like he was doing it unwillingly.

Finish it off boys. We are in the eight. Let's stay there.

We are playing a bit like the Adelaide team Goodwin played in.....just my take on it..:)

Sorry you don't want my honest input.

I don't mind your input. I see your point... but we need mongrel and pricks like that. We were pushed around for a decade. It's good to see us push back.

He's not let him goalside once yet, Jake is going really well

Our defensive intensity is top notch - pressure that we are putting on is incredible

Just gotta keep it up all day, not have any lapses - lead isn't enough that we will ever be safe, particularly on this quick deck

Agree Deever.

They're trying to milk frees cheaply, so it's fair game.

Hibbo is one the best pick ups for you guys in years, doesn't he make a difference.

We miss him and will continue to miss him for seasons to come.

One word always pops into my head when I see him play, and I don't know why.... "Frankston"

I'm loving Bugg based on last week. But I agree. Wouldn't put it beyond Goody to drop him based on some of this weeks antics. Gotta be careful with the me me me stuff.

Not sure we needed Buggs rough stuff, it just fired up the Bullies who got 2 in a row. Just stick to playing tough accountable footy.

Bugg is the sort of player that if he played for another team I would hate his guts and to be honest I borderline don't like him now because he is such an arrogant player with no skills to back it up.

Very very impressed with Oscar! Great game all around.

Exceptional tackling pressure from us and some good forward entries. Hannan in the middle has been good.

I'm not confident but maybe that's just MFCSS?

Absolutely. After last week particularly. 5 goals is nothing. Start again.

Yep, Bulldogs ducking has frustrated me for ages.

Like the Bugg flop, I just wish the umpires wouldn't reward it

He's an ego. He did get us a free goal. Gotta have a spread of different types of players. Bugg's workrate is huge now, and that's the really defining aspect for me now. That and whether his skills hold up.

Oscar seriously coming of age at the moment. I think something has clicked.

That was a huge goal from Watts at the end again with him showing poise to kick a clutch goal.

The dogs were able to get some space in that quarter and showed they can score very quickly. They dominated inside 50s and had the ball in their half a lot so our defence has held up very well, with some poor entries from the dogs.

On the umpiring I said it earlier but I feel like we are definitely getting a good run from them, interestingly I didn't notice anything during the Pies game and they were up in arms (honestly I think they were having a whinge). This game I think we've been lucky. Bugg's free was soft as butter, one of our goals (Harmes?) was touched and not reviewed, and we got lucky with some 50/50s (highs, in the back, holding the ball). I hope the umps don't feel the need to square the ledger!

And for that matter the dogs got a fantastic run in the GF last year so turnabout and all that.

Big second half, the players have finally done what we asked and got a healthy lead at half time. Let's make it count and go on with it. If we can win this quarter we can bury the dogs.

Spot on

Bugg and Trac have a strut but they back it up by doing the little things

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
