GAMEDAY - Round 11

Recommended Posts

Shuffled back here to say we're still in it.

Yeah, we've been poor.  No one would argue that.  But Goodwin has shown that he can swing the changes and motivate the side to get themselves back in it.  This game is far from over... I hope...

Need to fix the contest. We are getting belted out of the middle.

Time to drag the leaders aside and give them a spray.

Glad we got rid of that spud Jeremy Howe, and it's good to see the wisdom in our having used Oscar (the future) instead of Dunn (who the game had obviously passed).

We didn't get rid of him, he asked to leave.  Not much you can do about that.

Whilst comp is very even...surely the mental toughness of our team needs to be question?

7 goals in that qtr!

Who is our defensive coach? Goody needs to be asked about our defence and easy goals we leak!

Hibberd on the ball lewis or Jones back - Our ruck to follow up aggressively. Jack viney and Bugg melkshem start hurting a few .

Tom McDonald is playing like a skinny kid. Use your size ffs, both on the ground and in marking contests.

Lewis is the other concern for me. We need 18 players defending manically, and he is just floating around for mine.

We need a complete 180 in the middle to be a chance, but I just can't see it against Grundy and Collingwood's good midfield.

Neal Bullens disposal is dreadful. And Bugg is simply not good enough. No ruckman again is a problem. Grundy is hitting wherever he wants.

Missed the opportunity of not playing Spencer. I understand he is underdone but structurally it would have completely straighten us up.

Agreed!

Even if underdone it would allow Tom to go back, and Pedo to play forward and straighten us up. We have zero players up forward to provide a target and we are getting smashed in the clearances.

Spencer is no risk. At worst we break even in the ruck, at best we have a normal structure to play with.

Super disappointing!

We've gone in a back too tall and a mid too short. We continue to play Vince back rather than middle. Too many that can't handle the pressure. Too many that either cant or won't spread as required. Bit of leadership would not go astray. Not out of it but will be quickly if there is not a major change at the first bounce of the half.

ZERO forward structures - come back Jesse ... and Max

Goody went super defensive from the get go with plus 2 down back.  Handing the center square clearances / ruck dominance to the Pies.  The game is almost always going to be played from your defensive end with this tactic.

Unless you have a super back line you are going to bleed goals eventually with this Horribly flawed tactic.

If Goody doesnt change this up and bring numbers to the drop in the middle then Roosy may have unfortunately handed the batton to a dud

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
