Changes vs Crows

Hannan laid 6 tackles, just saying.  While his possession count wasn't high, it will be interesting to see if Goodwin is more about tackle count (i.e. pressure) as opposed to the amount you get the footy.

From what I saw;

Out - Bugg, JKH

In - Melksham, Stretch

Out: JKH, Hannan/Bugg

In: the best two of Kent, Stretch, Harmes, Melksham or ANB

We've got a height issue and Jacobs is going to destroy us but I don't think we have any option that is going to change that.

JKH simply isn't good enough. Neither are Bugg or Hannan at the moment, but I doubt both will be dropped.

An in-form Kent is precisely what we need but we shouldn't be picking players unless they are in VFL form.

Pretty much.

Not to the result anyway. But we'll get back to just trying to play our brand now. And for that...

In: ANB, Weed

Out: Bugg, JKH

Weed only if he's right to go. We needed another tall leadup type. And if Lynch plays will need an extra tall as all of TMac Omac and Frost will have their hands full all day.

The Omac sooks are in fine voice yet again, and for absolutely no reason. Was pretty good today without starring with heaps of disposals. Frost was agony 1st quarter and ecstasy 3rd.

I've been defending JKH, but he's gotta go. Not quite doing enough to keep the ball in. It's a vital job in Goody's system and ANB does it better.

Bugg probably unlucky but he's had his two, and will be moved back again. Maybe also for Harmes or preferably Kent. Stretch also.

Wags will get a second game. Got lit up at one point and played it out. Looked a little off the pace, but that's how you go one game back from interrupted year.

Yeah thought OMac looked alright, took a few good marks, didn't make any mistakes, we're lacking in the forward line with JKH and Hannan doing nothing plus Watts playing on the ball, need Kent, Harmes, ANB and  Billy back

TBH, not sure what those guys will really bring. None were incredible beforehand. I'm fairly certain Adelaide will get a cricket score. But yeah. There were only a few really terrible individuals this week. Goody is starting to annoy me.

First thing Goody said in the post match was that there wasn't enough pressure. All the forwards are on the chopping block.

The fact is your talking about these guys being pretty mediocre which is true but we need those types. We need them to be giving 100% with massive pressure to allow the talented players to do their work. We cant have 22 stars, unfortunately today our bottom rung players did not bring what is required that means they should go out of the side. The bottom 2-3 players should be coming in and out of the side as they fluctuate in form, that how it works for every side.

Bulltish if he said that, I lost count of how many clean midfield clearances by Hawks resulted in scoring opportunities whilst we scrapped for every clearance!

Truth be known it's been only first game when we played whole game of good footy, let leads slide against Richmond, just wasteful against Freo, Dawks and Cats, below average for half games against ESS and Carlton

I've decided to play the blind faith card this week and I'll be arguing that we can win this game all week.  The first way to win will be at the selection table.

In:  Stretch, Kent, Kennedy

Out:  JKH, Bugg, Hannan

Already have a feeling that Jetta will keep Betts goalless.

Wise, seriously mate, do you really think we can win or are you just taking the pizz?

Look at our formline... Multiple lapses against rubbish opposition. No win or even a close loss to  ANY power club..... (Geelong beat us by 5 goals, and they were rated by most as sliding this year so i cant count them as a power club )

Their formline = one lapse again a recent finalist (who i also rate as rubbish opposition)

On their dungheap where they walk 3 feet taller. I really admire your optimism but i just cant fathom how you come to your prediction after comparing our respective seasons so far.

Geezus if we lose by LESS than 5 goal i owe you a pint ok?

With recent form it could be argued that we are the worst team in it the comp right now although Brisbane could have us covered if we played them down here.

I really am worried about what the crows will do to us. I'd be happy if they just declared around the 180 mark but their cricket score could get much higher.

So my ins for this week are anyone who can kick the ball instead of choosing to handball it in a circle. Not sure we are coached to do anything but that though.

Just watching replay, we did some brilliant stuff in third but just can't keep it up for longer than a quarter, it's bloody hard being a Melbourne supporter

A little from column A, a little from column B.

With our list I always think we're in with a chance of winning.  When have we been blown off the park this year?  This coming week may be it, but I don't think it will happen.

It's just the kind of [censored] you expect these days from the dees. Bereft of confidence. Falling over in the simplest ways in close games. And then coming out and beating the unbeatable on their home turf. Sounds like the kind of thing we do, doesn't it.

lol yeah i guess a little confidence mixed with pizztaking can have anyone talking all irrational.

I would turn all BBO and give myself all sorts of jolly stuff if we somehow managed a win, but based solely on form, this looks like our worst loss for the year by a big margin.

Yes, it does.  Reckon we'll give them a real run for their money.

Maybe, but many here were calling for a smashing this week and look what happened.  We play Adelaide Oval well and I'm certain we'll go close this week.

What I fear is how all these close losses will effect the morale of the team. No doubt we are very competitive, but it must be draining to lose so many games we had every chance of winning well into the last quarter. This includes two losses by less than a goal.

Maybe Kennedy in too. Coach wasn't crazy about 9 shots to two or something.

Oliver was ok ,so was Viney

So Tyson might get the chop as they won't drop Jones ,even though he was scratchy early.

Jones kept kicking it directly to the opposition. He was atrocious early.

How do you think Nathan Jones will be feeling? Another year of no finals just slipping away for him.

Poor bloke.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres
