Surprised to see Footscray, who have enjoyed armchair rides from the umps for as long as I can remember, get robbed tonight.

The 50 m against Easton Wood to give Patton a shot right in front in Q4 was blatantly unfair.

Wood was watching the ump, waiting for him to shout "play on!". The ump gave Patton an eternity, then yelled " move it on !". Wood thought it was "play on," and a ridiculous, match losing goal was conceded.

There was also a blatant deliberate o.o.b.  by Greene towards the end, which the ump didn't pay, despite being very severe on deliberate calls all night prior to that.

Umpires say "move it on" 200 times a week and I'm sorry but it's not the signal for play on. The signal is "play on" arms up in the air.

the oob you have referred to is the one where the boundary umpire should have a say IMO

Few thoughts on the game.

Greene should get a week no more, ball is there to be spoilt, it's not behind play, yes it was late -free kick and 50 m I think that's fair.

Why do the AFL field umpires not collaborate with the boundary line umpires to make deliberate OOB  decisions? There were two clear incidents where deliberate should have been paid and umpire had said "couldn't see" and "it came of someone else" the boundary umpire was right there!

Umpires are atrocious in generally ATM and it's clearly not their fault but they are looking like the idiots because their bosses have no idea .I hope it was the downfield umpire that called the dangerous tackle against mummy because it looked like the umpire in the centre called for a ball up then after he realised libba was groggy then paid the free.  Almost MRP like in that if u injure a player it's a free if not play on.

There was a incident last week where JKH marked in the middle and I think it was grimes hit him late slightly high and JKH sprung up and played on. I'm thinking if he stays down he gets 50m. The dogs players do it, should we ?

I think you're going a bit easy on Greene. You say a free kick and 50 m. That's wrong....Daniel already had a mark, so there was no free, just 50m.

You say the ball was there to spoil. That's a joke...he walloped his face when he knew it was too late to spoil. It was a full, round arm, reckless, deliberate swipe, of high force. Far worse than anything Vince, Hogan,or Lewis did.

Comparable to Grinter on Wallace, except that Grinter was running with the flight of the ball, and it wasn't late.He missed the ball by the same amount as Greene. That was in the " tough" days. He got 5 weeks.

The fact that the victim only received a cut lip is irrelevant. It was vicious, and much more likely to cause severe injury than the misdemeanours of Vince, Hogan or Lewis.

Whether we agree with it or not, the AFL are clearly using the consequence in order to determine the impact section of the sanction calculation.  My money is on 2 weeks, reduced to 1 on guilty plea.

Your points are valid I am probably going easy 2 down to one week with early plea, but he's entitled to attempt to spoil and i think that should help his cause that the ball is in play. I can't see how Greene can get more than hogan when the AFL is supposedly cracking down on behind the ball incidents. Daniel kicked the goal and what looked like just a cut lip.

How did this guy even get a commentator gig in the first place?!

He's a bit like Rex Hunt. Just gets really excitable and that's entertaining to some people.

i don't want to be pedantic, but i think it wrong to describe the hogan hit as "behind the ball". it was "off the ball" or "in front of the ball" being in the position where the the ball was going to be delivered. in addition it was a face-to-face situation and he was retaliating so describing it as "behind the ball" gives the impression it was a sniping action to an un-sighted player.

I thought that was a fair spoil by Balls.

He spoiled The Ploughs ability to eat solids also.

God I am so sick of carltank flogs like Stephen Trigg and Mark Maclure waxing rhapsodic about how young they are and how inexperienced etc.

Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Kreuzer, Jones, Rowe, Palmer, Ed Curnow, Daisy, Levi, Alex Silvagni - all on their downward trend.

Yes, the likes of Cripps and Weitering and to a lesser extent Marchbank and Plowman are very encouraging but to hear the two Carlton apologists bang on about how McKay - who is yet to debut - is "like Daniher" does my head in!

Quite happy for them to stay delusional.

They have far less leadership than the MFC and no forwardline

The AFL App is just beyond hopeless.

The only score it is showing today is last years GF

Fix it up you tight ass bastards. There are 100's of people employed in at AFL HQ

We are being so screwed...

I'm having the same problem too. Was working ok in first quarter of Saints vs Hawks and now all 2017 video content, scores and live streams have disappeared! Joke!

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
