Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You do realise that OMac and Frost are same weight, I asked, maybe you mean slightly more mature? or maybe you have no idea

I don't care what the record says.  Frost would have Oscar for breakfast in strength.

Most astute footy observers would draw that conclusion comfortably regardless of the other pros and cons of each player.

Have you got any changes of your own to contribute, or are you sticking with your usual fare of critcising others?  At least he put his opinion forward without feeling the need to sink the boots into someone else by saying they have 'no idea'.

My opinion Omac stays in, alright some of the changes put forward border on farcical

Forward pressure was good, but you can't select a side based on that.  Weideman, for example, had just 4 touches and 1 mark for the entire game.  That's just not good enough.  I can forgive Tim Smith for being quiet, and the same goes for Hannan to a lesser extent, but we can't have a tall forward in the side who can't impact the game in the way that he should.

Goodwin may not drop any of them, but there are valid reasons to suggest that he should.

I know someone who lost their big toe nail & I can tell you they were in some pain & had issues with it for months, couldn't wear a shoe for a couple of weeks. Obviously Vince is a professional & will be fine but would not be suprised if he misses this week

May have been better to keep this injury quiet. Can see the opposition doing their best to "unintentionally" step on his toe.

Perhaps he can do a De Jong and "tape" the other toe ^_^

Vince lost his toenail in the first half, and played out the game. Apparently had a minor surgery on it after the game and MFC are hopeful he will be fine for the freo game.

Vince is tough. He knows we need him at the moment, so I back him to play through the pain if it's not 100%.

Great information, thanks.

After watching Freo closely last night i can say that this will be a danger game. Their midfield and outside run was far too strong for the doggies to handle. Their outside speed was what stood out in the Hill Bros x2 Crozier Walters and Weller. Sandilands is back to his best and Spencer will have a huge task. Id bring back Bugg and make him run with Stephen Hill or Walters. Has a huge tank and did the job on Sidebottom last year.

If Spencer replacing Gawn wasn't a dead set certainty, it must be given we're going up against Sandilands.

We generated a lot of shots on goal, that is true, but I'm not convinced we can maintain that with a forward line of Weideman, Smith and Hannan. We might just look to do one more week like this and then drop the worse of Weideman/Smith when Hogan returns, but I hope we're taking Fremantle a little more seriously than that. If Pedersen can get to more contests than Weideman and can fly at packs with more strength, I'd switch Weideman for Pedersen.

Also to add to that, won't do his confidence any good if he starts to struggle more often than not, he's going to be a good player long term but he's still very young

Goodwin is following the system methodology, similar to the dogs. This is where you have 22 roles in the system and you replace an injured/out of form person with someone who can play that role.

So on that mantra, Spencer will come in for Gawn.

His next decision is to rest hannan and find someone to fill that gap. Maybe it's Brayshaw again, or maybe it's time for Bugg.

Our depth is truly being tested at the moment.

Great post. Completely agree about the system methodology.

How far off is Michael hibberd?

I think Misson said he was at least a couple of weeks off in the most recent 'Injury Update'. 3-4 weeks from memory.

Spencer in for Gawn

Maybe Pedersen in for Weid or Hannah?

Frost if fit for Melksham

Don't think it is confirmed, Wise.  The article on mfc website is from last night.

Max was earlier and said he was waiting on a phone call for scan results.  He jokingly said something like 'I may not take the call if I don't want to hear the news'.

He didn't sound too confident but it could still go either way as to his time out.

If the club weren't sure then they would say 'we need to wait on the scans' or something like that.  They wouldn't be talking about a timelines if they needed to check it out.  You can tell if it's a strain or a tear without needing a scan.

I think the longer the club waits to provide an update, the worse the outlook.

Maxy looked very uncomfortable when he came off, looked worse than the standard strain.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
