Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

There has to be more to it... a player simply does not drop from pick 2 to unwanted by all in the space of two years.

My guess is clubs are being coy and not playing their hand early, waiting to see how low Brisbane is willing to go.  A few clubs will pop up with a mid to late first rounder by week’s end... (surely)

^This^

I think further offers will come in this week and no doubt questions have been asked but Lions current asking price is a little high

My strategy as our FD would be to try and package 2-3 second rounders together for a single first rounder. I'd put the first rounder on the table and shake some trees and see what falls out. If it's Gaff or Schache, both these guys fill a need for us.

If we don't get something we like, I'd take the pick to the draft.

Brisbane currently hold the following picks. Points in brackets.

Pick 1 (3000)

Pick 12 (1268)

Pick 18 (985)

Pick 20 (912)

Pick 39 (446)

They have an academy player named Conner Balleden who is tipped to be bid on at around pick 10 (1395)

We could trade them pick 29 (653) and 31 (606) for Schache.

They can then use pick 20 and 39 to draft players rather than use them for academy points.

Assuming we get pick 31 for Watts from Port.

Mick Mcguane was on SEN a short time ago and gave an insight on Schache.

Not sure how to put the link up but he basically stated teams should stay away from him.

Mentioned how some young talls find it difficult to transition form U18 level into the AFL early in their careers due to some rules/system the U18 competition has in place for key forwards inside 50.

They have a lot more room to work with and can dominate one on one when they are physically stronger than their opponents but they don't have that luxury in the AFL.

Also mentioned in his second game of AFL he took 5 contested marks and yet this season he only took 2 in his ten games. He thinks something is amiss with Schache at this stage.

TAC footy is a very different animal and McGuane is spot on.

Most forward thinking recruiters will be allowing for that.

The offensive side controls the space in forward line in TAC cup footy for the most of the game, in AFL this is completely reversed.

I would be looking at what the player does when his space is shut down and when he is outnumbered, not at how many goals he kicks.

He does not want to be in Brisbane perhaps!!

That's not how the bidding works.

If he is bid for at pick 10 then the Lions have to use their next available pick on him, i.e. pick 12 and take the change in points after the 20% discount as a later draft pick -

In this example 1395 (pick 10 bid) - 279 (20% discount = 1116 points required

1268 (lions next pick 12) - 1116 = 152 (Lions get pick 60 as change)

So 12 for Ballenden + 60 at the draft

This kid obviously has talent if he went pick 2. He seems very similar to Weiderman, but slightly bigger. If all he will cost is a second round pick, then it’s a risk worth taking surely? Could become a solid key forward for us, spreads the pressure and expectation between him and Weid, and removes the pressure to be the number 1 key forward straight off the bat as Hogan already holds the mantle. Seems a good option for a 2nd rounder?

I'd say we're either after someone else we rate higher (probably a mid) or our FD has ruled him out, because otherwise it seems to be a bit of a no brainer.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
