For one, because it makes our win against them last week that much better.

Who cares? It's a lose/lose. If they win tonight people will say they didn't turn up last week. We'll get no credit. The ladder is the most important factor here.

Really? They're going to be one of our major competitors for the eight. Why the heck would you want them to win this?

Uhm West Coast... F em!

At the end of day anyone in the 8 will be tough competition Saints aren't our 1 and only.

Tough tough call on Bruce then.

They're not our only competition, but they're one of them.

And yes, tough call on Bruce. West Coast have had a pretty good go of it.

It does feel like our game last year against them, as someone else said.

Fine, then rejoice in the fact that one of our rivals for the top four (West Coast) may lose a game they would’ve pencilled in.

I don’t care about “credit”. I only care that we didn’t just beat up on a ratshit team last week.

shame we didnt get the saints game on free to air instead of the other game.

Seven never pass up an opportunity to broadcast a game with Essendon, Collingwood, Richmond, Hawthorn, Carlton or Geelong playing.

Interstate clubs and smaller Vic clubs are like lepers to Seven.

Looks like the Saints have let this one slip. Best possible result for us, really. Shows we didn’t just beat a crap team, but also stops one of our Final 8 competitors getting the 4 points.

I think there has to be real questions asked of St Kilda's gameplan. Is it sustainable over four quarters? Yes, they've got some young players in there, but they fall away quickly when they don't bring 100%. In some ways I think they've fallen behind us in terms of development, having been ahead arguably last season. This probably has a lot to do with our greater level of talent now starting to show.

McCartin has no game sense/gets over excited/needs to boost fitness.

WCE won't go far again this year, they will struggle over east ie finals time.

Let's hope so.

I'd also like to question the St Kilda leadership here too. I love this. ;)

Why? I thought the Saints were our biggest worry?

;) I hate West Coast too. But we needed them to win tonight over one of our major competitors.

Saints should have won easily, kicked themselves out of it and then a combination of running themselves into the ground and a disgracefully pathetic umpiring display conspired against them. I take away from this game the fact that the Saints are the real deal.

To me the saints were the better team, the eagles can just score so quickly if you give them a sniff.

The more games the saints lose the better I reckon

2 points- first we beat a genuine up and coming team last week, to play like that at Subi vs the Eagles is not something a middle of the road team can do. Secondly, I hope we don't get the Eagles in a final over here because we'll be versing the umpires as well.

Another lop-sided free kick count for the WCE....23 to 8 this time.

Only if you aren't a WCE supporter George. Been on the right side of that count for decades now

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
