FMD! What a litany of disaster. That 148 flogging (not a jolly good flogging) by Essendon is seared into the memory. Worse than 186 IMO...

so sad that we have so many disasters to chose from that are candidates for the worst

As my posting on here shows, I tend the pessimistic view of the MFC. I certainly wasn't surprised at the performances against Essendon & Carlton last year, as I was expecting the worst leading into both games, especially the Essendon game.

I don't have the same trepidation about this week's game. I expect us to win and win well, although I can see the nerves coming if we are not in front at quarter time.

Our Round 1 wins in the last two seasons were "poor" wins.  Gold Coast were severely under manned and GWS played terribly.  Unfortunately the team took far too much baseless confidence from those wins and it was a train wreck the week after.  The talk from the club  leading up to last year in particular was very disturbing..

This time we had a good win in Round 1. And the talk coming out from the club is much more reserved.

Tipping a 12 goal win.

Im hoping for a big win to signal the end of the era where we weren't so sure of what we were going to get.

God I hope BenKen and Jakes inclusion reads more about keeping them hungry... I'd have Harmes ahead of BenKen (assuming tyson and kent are locks) I like BK and he can do the spectacular and has great pressure, yet drifts out of games and unfortunately his height is problematic... a la Nahas and even C.Daniel... Harmes can win his own ball in the air, but disposal is average -in my humble opinion at least.

Well Tysons a certainty, you'd think Harmes or Kent to take the other spot. Wonder how bad Maxs wrist is, Spence may get a run after all??

I must have missed this... I though he had some back tightness...?

How were Gold Coast severely under manned? They played a pretty strong team with Ablett and Bennell also in that team.

Hurt his wrist at training. Club still saying he will play though.

Ben Kennedy is a better prospect then Harmes in my opinion. Harmes disposal in the JLT series was on par with Paul Hopgood.

This could be the week we see the dual rucks experiment, if Max pulled up a little sore from his smashing of Hickey last week it might be s good time to bring Spencer into the fold.

Having said that if he's fine I wouldn't want to mess with a winning team.

In: Tyson, Harmes

Reports say he was close to BOG, let's give him a crack. He can play both ends of the ground (although I prefer in the forward line) and I'd like to see him rewarded for form.

First you have to get the ball.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
