JLT Round 4, Thursday 9th March - West Coast at Subiaco

My half time views;

- Oliver is a freak

- Salem can't play a defensive role. So much more effective when he's not worrying about an opponent.  not sure if that's good?!

- Our backline is better with Jetta

- Dom and Watts are rusty as

- Max is an elite ruck. Not a newsflash I know, but I'm glad he's come back in form at least an equal to 2016

- We're playing like [censored] and we're less than 2 goals in it

- The Gawn/Spencer could work.  I haven't dismissed it

- ANB has something to work with

- Players like Bugg play the way that Goodwin wants Melbourne to play like.  He's not the best on our team, but he does it.  That's why he will play seniors frequently

Reading this thread give a good list of who's made errors but not indication of who's playing well for us..?

Oliver has easily been the standout.  Hogan has kicked two and presented well, while Lewis and Salem have been the other picks of our midfield.

Spencer, dare I say it, has been good too and has given more of a contest than Weideman has at this point.

I just want to see this effort for the rest of the game now, eagles should win as they are way more cleaner than us, but I don't want to see a blow out could handle a 2-3 goal loss, hopefully the heat doesn't effect us in 2nd half

'F'ing Hell* - Oliver is off this planet. Gets the ball and you assume that he must get caught with a player right on him - Nope, he still gets the ball off to one of our boys at least to their advantage. Biggest Jet potential I've ever seen

We're one goal down. I just assumed we were 80 points down by some of the posts.

With all due respect, I'm not sure the score in a pre season match is all that important RTG. Watching WCE run rings around us from half back through the corridor is worrying.

Has Jack Trengove been on the field?

I only watched the second quarter and didn't see him.  He has 0 minutes and 0 stats according to the AFL website.

But do do Thomas Barrass and Jack Redden. So I'm not sure if it means anything.

Spencer should play ahead of Weid round 1.

I'll add to that: Jones had been in it a lot, I'm happy with Braysure given his last year.  Petracca has had it a bit.  Also Oscar has done some nice things.

:) - "Last season, Melbourne had a kicking efficiency of 65 per cent, ranked 16th in the AFL. Tonight, they are kicking at an efficiency of 76 per cent, well ahead of West Coast's 69 per cent."

I'd rubbished that idea a month ago.  I'm not convinced yet, and they maybe me being stubborn, but he has certainly done more than Weideman at this point.

The one thing that won't happen is having Hogan, Watts, Spencer and Weed in the same side.  We're too top heavy with that.

Spencer around the ground has been a liability but surprsingly good up forward. Kicked 2.

A few fringe players... scrap that a few players need to clean up disposal. E girls rebound is killing us.

Really apart from wasting thr ball and being caught out on the rebound they're doing pretty welll .

This standard wont be good enough to beat saints though

Interdting 2nd half ahead

It's 30 deg apparently. Maybe there are extra interchange player due to heat???

We are playing poorly and only 8 points behind at half time against a very good side at their fortress out west, pretty positive I'd say.

The other way to look at it is that we'd rather know now than season proper Moonshadow.

Stats-wise the game is very even. It is not a particularly tough, in and under kind of game but it rarely is at Subi due to its size.

Some of our good players are having shockers - Vince, Viney and Tyson seem to be jumper chasing.

Loving Spencer resting forward.

Salem's kicking is bloody amazing.

The foreward spread/handball running of WCE is tearing us apart. Our defenders are actually keeping is in the game. And for the haters, Garland is not the problem. It is the defensive spread of our midfield that is dysfunctional.

After 3 JLT games, Vince's place in our starting 22 must now be in question.

I don't think watts plays tall, he plays more link and pushes forward

I agree with Brayshaw - he hasn't had it a lot, and apart from one bad kick early in the game, he's had a hand in a few goals while getting one himself.  Both McDonalds had a better second term after a tough start, too.  It's hard when you turn the ball over at half forward and they run it down there with ease.

Oliver has clearly been our best, he is just sensational.   Hogan, Salem, Lewis and probably Watts have been good too.  Lots to like with some things to work on as well.  Not even close to the doom and gloom some are giving here.

don't mind Brayshaw, Spence & Gawn, Hunt and interceptor Macdonald as well.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
