Matty Lloyd!

Not sure I hate him anymore.

I've always loved Lloyd & Kingy ?

6 of them had us in the 8. Including Loyd, Brerton, King and Jay Clarke.  King had us as high as 5th. Not sure Ive always found him that reliable but he DID pick the Neeld diaster before anyone else. Lets hope they're right.

8 of them thought Stkilda for the 8. I have sense it may be them or us.

Agreed.

I would have also included Paul Keating's top eight. About as meaningful as a number of expert opinions offered here.

That magazine cost $4.95

haha as if i would shell out a fiver to read any analysis by Mark Robinson.

I am hoping he gets sacked mid season before any coaches.

Jon Ralph is the type of guy to bet   $100 on Black Caviar for the place.

he never gets it right and he belongs on SEN for that.

mid season there will be a few who try to get on the Demons bandwagon but I hope not too many.

the Pharisees and oracles never saw the Bulldogs coming, never saw Leicester,Cronulla,Brexit or Trump.

glad to be under rated at this stage of the year.

we will finish fourth or higher in my opinion.

Glad we helped the Blues to five bottom choices.

Last week Ralph suggested that a player had a hypertension of the knee.

Not kidding.

Of Course Essendope to finish in the 8 according to Slobbo!

I think the top 8 predictions show who are at least capable of recognising a list with young developing talent that is due to ripen, and those that just follow the pack.

I'm with Sam Edmund on some of those sackings. Hinkley will be close to gone if port finish bottom 6.

Cooney with Port Adelaide in the top eight says a lot about Cooney.

He grew up in Port Adelaide heartland so I think he’s just being loyal.

Agreed- he's predicting we'll beat Hawthorn in a final - that would really add spice to the Jordan Lewis trade....love the thought of that happening (only mild payback for the grannie in 88)

I could be wrong but I believe Lloyd was a Dees supporter when a kid.

I like Lauren Wood's statement.

Most likely we could win the same amount of games as St.Kilda, don't know about the other 2 teams though.

Round 1 is building up to be a cracking game between the Saints considering how many people can't decide which team will make the 8.

I think we will have a better understanding by round 2, I hope we're not disappointed again.

The only surprise in the o.p, is that slobbo didn't nominate the "brave returning, persecuted hero", and new captain, heppell, to win the Brownlow.

I just watched the video of king and Robbo debating melbournes chances, take a look it's good for a laugh, robbo looks like he got his shirt out of a dumpster and even says Jamie bennell was good in the back line last year, think he got him mixed up with Jetta

I agree.

But the point he's making about a ruckman winning the Brownlow is actually addressing an interesting side issue. The Brownlow has been too heavily weighted towards midfielders for the last 20 years. Getting rid of 3rd man up will help true tap ruckman; and limiting interchange to much fewer than now would give key position players a chance of winning.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
