More than that, Waldron insisted for the second time that Paul Roos would be working at Collingwood in some capacity in the near future.

“The mail is that Paul Roos is going to Collingwood anyway, we said that last week,” he explained.

“That’s as strong as you can get… so is Buck’s a dead man walking?

“I still think Roosy will turn up there, he may not turn up in the number one seat but he’ll turn up in a role there, because that’s what Collingwood do.”

Surely not.

Didn't he put off his retirement plans in Hawaii to come to us on big bucks? Surely putting his plans off for 3 years is enough.

I'd be pretty sad if he ended up at Collingwood.

He's not going to Collingwood. His wife has her own business and they're moving to Hawaii for a bit to work on her life. There's no way he uproots those plans for a second time to take on a secondary coaching gig.

There's definitely problems brewing at Collingwood.  I can't see how Nathan Buckley who seems to be a very straight shooter, and Gubby Allan can work effectively together.  Maybe Nathan wont have to work with Gubby if ASADA gets involved.  That may be where Roos fits in.

Collingwood may be looking for a lot of new senior people:rolleyes::

  • Football Manager:  Gubby Allen may find himself on an extended holiday courtesy of AFL/ASADA.
  • President:  Eddie must be on thin ice after:  hiring Allen; his big mouth nearly lost them their sponsorship with Holden; upsetting the chief recruiter; and realising his 'love child' can't coach.  The Board must be asking themselves big questions about Eddie and his judgement!  Wouldn't be surprised to see an 'exit' plan for Eddie.  But will he go quietly or will the sparks fly.  Popcorn time again?
  • Senior Coach: ...

Collingwood is looking very poor in the management stakes - lots of off field turmoil happening.

Some old Rooboy mates (Pert, Randell) are there but can't see Roos at a club that is all over the shop!  He chose the Demons rather than the Lions because we were stable with the firm hand of PJ in control.

If Collingwood can be cleaned up surely the AFL can be cleaned up as well.

Some things are beyond cleaning.

I think he also chose Melbourne as he had the brief to come in and completely revamp the club with PJ behind him making his "visions" happen. The perfect Neeld storm meant that Roos was almost given a blank canvas and told to "do with the club what you will". Bartlett was the perfect presidential foil - stay in the background.

I think there are way too many ego's at Collingwood to allow this sort of exercise to happen.

I'd be incredibly disappointed if Roos suddenly lobbed at Collingwood. But I'm  not actually sure why I'd be disappointed. Probably I'd be worried Roos would work his magic on the filth. I prefer it when they are in the toilet.

let's see what happens

It worked for us I suppose. He did say categorically that he would never coach again, but maybe they'll throw millions at him to join in some kind of football management role.

I bloody hope not.

Why not?

As long as the role doesn't require Oct - Feb....he is free to accept anybody offering big bucks for a Mar - Sep role.

What Roos does beyond his tenure at Melbourne is of no interest or significance to me whatsoever.

He got paid well, did a great job and both parties move on.

Good luck in whatever he does.

As well as his wife's business might be doing it definitely wont be making $1.5m per year. He will be at Collingwood in a heart beat with those $$$$.

He might not want to be in the spotlight as a head coach but would jump at the opportunity of being in a director of football role.

Roos is a gun for hire. He came to Melbourne as an employee and like another other employee doesnt owe the club anything after they leave.

All the best in whatever you decide to do Roos...

Will Matt still do Roos Views to see if Paul's fav color for the week has changed?

Can't wait for Goody's Gossip every week in '17 BTW.

We wanted Roos for more than the three years he signed on for and it would have been at $1.5m a year, but he still only wanted the 3 year contract.

If he was interested in staying and if the money was an issue for him, he'd still be with us, he did all the heavy lifting and then passed the baton, he won't go to them because it's not about money.

I'm not sure about gun for hire but he came when we desperately needed someone to do what he did. He did a great job. He doesn't owe us anything and I  for one wish him all the best... but collingwood??!

I see the logic in him being an employee and having finished at the dees etc etc. But in my mind he is a demon and i don't care how illogical i am in saying this but i don't want him coaching another club. Full Stop. And Collingwood? Perish the thought.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
