Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I believe him when he said he and Clarko are still good friends. They are going to have a few premiership reunions together. Anyway he is ours now . Wonder what number he will wear.

But its great to see a player of that caliber and skill and also leadership want to come to our club. Also this is the first free agency period where we havent lost a player. In the past we have had howe, frawley sylvia which wasnt a big loss but now players are re-signing with us.

I have been posting on DL for about 5 years now, perhaps 6 (or more?). We have some good trades in that time, with the best of them being Vince and Tyson. But even with those there were some posters who questioned the decision to trade them in. I don't think i have read one dissenting voice about the Lewis trade which must be DL first. This is why:

Tricks? As in loading up from outside fitty of one step?

Replacing the stutter shuffle run-up with a 'natural arc'.

Apparently Mark Stevens on 7 said he's now one of our top five paid players?

I personally see him as a top 5 player immediately, so no dramas there...

I thought he said Lewis is not one of our top 5 paid players but in the top 10. Could be wrong....

Glad we have help for Jones.

Looks a great fit. And price is more than acceptable.

It is very comforting that at no point was I worried that we would give up anything more than we gave up - essentially nothing.

We had all the leverage, and the Hawks did the right thing by the person involved.

Great news for the club.

His leadership should help show Jones, Vince, Gawn and Viney how it's done.

And we essentially gave up nothing for him.

As an aside, I hope this helps us secure a Friday night game next year vs Hawthorn. We already beat them this year, now Channel 7 has the "Lewis vs Hawthorn" story to make out of it.

Roos, commenting from sunny Hawaii, thinks it is a great get for the Demons and will accelerate our charge for the finals.  He can't believe Hawks let Mitchell and Lewis go in the same year.

He went on to say:  “They’re a great club Hawthorn, we have got the greatest respect for them, but to lose Mitchell for pick No.88, there’s got to be something more to it that we don’t know that’s going in.”

...a not too oblique reference to there being something else in the background of the trade...interesting from Roos as he never gives that sort of comment...maybe the Hawaii sun has got to him a little bit...

Anyway, good to see him taking an interest.

Last week:  Hodge to Mitchell: so mate you went for pick 88!

This week: Mitchell to Hodge:  better than Lewis - he went for peanuts!   And, you will go for...?

No, Lewis went for two picks and they were both lower than the 88 that Mitchell went for.

... Forget the part about the Hawks giving us back two more to go along with the deal, Lewi's one of ours now so we can defend his honor.

Had to go back and watch JL again (also trying to remember the episode where he gives MFC props. Robbo invited him back to 360 and I think with this trade its almost assured. The only reason not to is balance, too much MFC after Roos, from someone else's POV (not mine of course).

So we got Lewis just for downgrading two picks. Who, if anyone could have imagined such a pickup before the trade period started, would have suggested that? Maybe giving up a player and a pick. But who'd be mad enough to suggest we'd get him just by downgrading two picks?

That's what all of us are still wrapping our heads around... What makes me more stunned is this. Ask yourself how many of the other clubs would trade Lewis in for a grand total of 11 lost spots in third and fourth round picks? The answer is 17 clubs would take that deal in a heartbeat, be they in a window now like Cats, or growing and needing the leadership, like Gold Coast. So faced with a genuine gun of the comp walking from his club (or being pushed), he chose one club OUT OF 17 to go to. Not 3 or 4 and let them fight it out so I can get paid more. 1 club. Even if you argue that he couldn't leave Victorian clubs because of family and TV commitments, that's still 9 other clubs all of whom would have taken him with open arms. The whole thing boggles my mind.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
