Interesting how perception about a footy club indeed any organisation can change very quickly. For better and for worse. Sometimes it's one major thing, sometimes an accumulation of a lot of things. In our case, it is evident that we have a good young list, have coaches and managers who are respected and are seen to make the right decisions, and our young talent signalling their confidence in the future by extending their contracts. Also, the re-signing of Hogan has influenced the perception that we are going places.  Finally, the capability and personality of coaches and managers who influence those around them and impress those outside the club. Lots of small pieces that have accumulated and come together to change the perception of a once down and out footy club.  As management texts tell us, perception is reality. It impacts individual and collective hope, belief, trust, confidence, and a sense that there is a better future. We can look forward with enthusiasm and not despair. We can once again be proud of our great club. However, let's not forget the past and where we have come from so that we maintain a sense of reality and balance and don't allow complacency, over confidence and arrogance to set in.

It's worth noting that Lewis won't get as battered at Melbourne and will be able to use his smarts and skill around the contests. 

At Hawthorn the only other inside mid was Mitchell.  He'll have Viney, Tyson, Oliver, Brayshaw, etc. able to do the real heavy lifting.

If anything, coming to the Dees could freshen him up.

Very happy about the move

3 year contract, age 31 at start of next season and from what I understand a decent salary.

A risk but in the absence of any comparative senior talent on our list a risk worth taking.

Cannot help but think about all the other players who have crossed to the Dees at similar stages of their careers. Few have really succeeded. I look forward to this being one of those successes.

I see less of a reliance on Jones playing inside, which is why I didn't mention him.

But yes, we have lots of contested ball winners running through the midfield now.

"Knowing that Hogan signed, that made it clear what Melbourne's direction was."

Ipso facto... Hogan signs, people want to come to the club.

 That is massive.

Wow you threw me there, thought you said "being interviewed by Barret", did he actually ask anything intelligible? Think Todd Viney had massive influence on Lewis moving

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
