Lewis' relationship with Todd Viney was the reason why he chose us. He's maintained a strong relationship since Todd was at Hawthorn.

Just watching the presser. He is a very loyal young man. The media continue to try set him up "throw Hawks under the bus, we need a headline".. Lewis buys none of that, very loyal to the Hawks still. Great get for us, he is a polished media performer.

He talks really well. I really like listening to him talk (love this decision even more now). No um/ahh, rather straight forward, logical, honest, positive and strong responses to questions.

I know this will get howled down, but this is a guy who i think would have captained the Hawks in 2017, is co captains with Nathan Jones totally out of the question? obviously the players vote and all that and i am usually against new players getting in but surely this is a different set of circumstances, talking about a genuine A grade player and A grade leader.

Good pickup this, especially for a late pick swap. He's going to bring leadership, maturity and experience to the group and help guide our youngsters on the path to glory.

Interesting he said in his interview that witnessing us beat them comfortably first hand and play hard football attracted him to us. It shows us there are no nothing games, it's unacceptable to put up performances like we did the last 2 rounds as it could cost us a player or supporters.

Welcome to the club you Balding Sniper!

I was having a sh!t day right up until this news.

Whilst still having to deal with morons, I'm in a much better mood after watching that interview.

Geez our midfield is going to be full of hard arses.

Vice Captain would suffice, and I don't think there will be anyone that would be disappointed if this were the case.

I have always liked listening to him talk footy. No cliches or spin answers, just clear but without any grand statements. I didn't realise it, but it looks like the 3 year deal was attractive to him on two fronts: footy longevity and family security. I can see him in a lot of interviews, press conferences and football tv next year.

Random positive on top of this: Hawthorns game-plans, tactics and strategies from Jordan's perspective. This knowledge will also be very valuable (even though it will change it just reinforces how good a pick up it will be).

Co captains is a bit far and would come across as him being yet another messiah for us. Would be a lock for the leadership group and hopefully can be a confidant/mentor for chunck.

Love to read the texts that'd be flying around between the players right now ...

Last week:  Hodge to Mitchell: so mate you went for pick 88!

This week: Mitchell to Hodge:  better than Lewis - he went for peanuts!   And, you will go for...?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
