Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Look out !!!!!

Drug cheat alert!!

Worsfold states " The bombers are building ' chemistry ' in their forward line."

Didn't they try that before. ???

And Worsfold would be just the person to work the chemistry to perfection.

STOP PRESS - could the cricket saga have come t a better time for the EFC drug cheats?

They have handed on the mantle of "the darkest moment in Australian sport" to Cricket Oz.

I cannot see the justification for the mods closing the thread about the Essendrug scandal.  The justification seems to be that there were a couple of posts about the cricket cheating which should have been in a seperate thread and that there is nothing more to be said about Essendon.  Strange when there are current court proceedings on the topic.      Please reopen.

Whenever I log on to Demonland and see the Fat Lady thread, I am drawn to open it before everything else.

It has always contained some excellent information and spectacular abuse.

The only sensible alternative to closing it would be perhaps to open a "I hate Essendon because they are a pack of arceholes" thread.

Lehman has done the right thing in stepping down as coach.

It's a pity Hird didn't do the same and accept responsibility for what happened on his watch.

This whole business would have been done and dusted long ago if he had.

Both captain and coach took full responsibility, even though it seems the key offender was Warner. But as leaders they recognise that with the prestige of their positions and the big bucks, comes ultimate responsibility for both good and bad.

Yes what a stark contrast to Hird.

Steve Smith (and Bancroft) will be welcomed back, in large, by the Australian public with open arms after serving suspension. Redemption and forgiveness will be theirs.

I wonder through hird’s iron clad ego, if he reflects on how things could have been.

If the AFL ran international cricket ...

Demetriou would have called Lehmann and Smith telling them they were about to  be nailed

Bancroft would have been made to swallow the sandpaper

There would be no charge of ball tampering. The whole thing would be put down to governance failures

Smith would be sent to France for a year on a management study course

Lehmann would score a gig with a management consultancy firm

Warner would spend a year in New York learning to be a barista

Smith would eventually present the Alan Border medal

Everything would be the fault of the media. The players would all be brave, hard done by,

Some numpty would sue the ICC

Funny if it was not so true MR!

Remember that no one actually saw the sandpaper being used. It was merely in Bancroft's pocket like the stuff in the Bomber's fridge. Oh what a great tribunal the AFL put together !

It should be noted that the ex-captain is no angel ... he's confrontational as well and often spoke to his own players and the umpires in a rude and ill-manner way.  Verified by players from other countries.

But these professional sportspeople often live in a bubble and are often blissfully unaware of the consequences of their actions - until it is too late.  Then the tears flow - feeling sorry for themselves because of their own stupid actions.

As always,  the whole story needs to be told and nothing conveniently left out ... as an example we got off very lightly with our own involvement with Dank.  As it turned out the doctors involved with the club were dispensed with but looked at in isolation,  we were very lucky that the focus was on Essendon during the drugs scandal.

'Moving On' hey ... not this time.  I hate that overused phrase anyway.  It's like that other one "It is what it is" ... code for 'Can we talk about something else?'

With the cricket thread being down at the moment this is the only thread where we can express our views so here's a view from the outside that is worth listening to  BBC Podcast - Australian Cricket Scandal

Not sure I see where the "mess" is. It's supposedly not on any banned list and looks like it's being tested by actual scientist/medicos.

It seems to fit more into the pain relief category than the performance boost category.

If it's suss the AFL can ban it.

Whateley's nose for this kind of news is way off anyway. He tried to wave away the EFC drug scandal, and don't try to talk to him about Damien Oliver. You'll hear a whooshing sound from how quickly he changes the subject.

Who are they?

my opinion is mine.

If any of the 3 Cheats play for Australia again, i will support the opposition.

The Cheating in South Africa was a premeditated plan, Warne just F$&@ked up.

In the match fixing thing, Warne and Waugh were careless and thick-witted and were 5 minutes from being sucked into Hansie Cronje territory. They deserved to go for stupidity if nothing else. Can reasonably be seen as a F$&@k up.

In the diuretic thing, after Warne missed games with a shoulder injury, his mum didn't tell him to back off the baked beans and chips and maybe hit the jogging machine. No, she (renowned sports scientist that she is) advised him to take a "weight loss" tablet which "just happened" to be a masking agent for steroids, which just happen to be great for recovering from shoulder injuries. I don't buy that that was a F$&@k up.

After hearing the chief of the company involved it seems more like the AFL playing funny buggers here.

Everything seems above board on the company end, not sure what the AFL agenda is but he is getting the don't call us routine from Dill...

Who would have thought.

The thing I found odd from the article is that while they have the ok to use it, the product is still to be fully tested and is not on the market ye,t so the 40 to 50 AFL players are being used as guinea pigs

Clearly, the product is not illegal but hopefully club doctors have told those 40 to 50 players any potential side affects etc.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
