Has been mentioned by another poster (I can't remember who) that apparently we're into him.

Delisted by Brisbane, he's been plagued by groin issues over his first two seasons restricting him to about 15-20 NEAFL games.

Comes in at about 194cm and 83kg, he looks to move pretty well, can take a mark and is also capable of playing at either end which is a good quality for players to have now. If he were also capable of being able to rotate onto a wing he's the exact type of player our list could do with.

I'm not sure if the club are looking at him as a delisted free agent or rookie. But interested to hear people's thoughts on the kid who was the Lions first pick in the 2014 draft and also the poster who first mentioned we were into him.

Good luck to the kid if he makes it but on his record to date and notwithstanding the injuries, I somehow doubt he's going to do that if the AFL's bottom side (I only have Essendon* in this year's competition  with an asterisk) has lost patience.

However, if we get him, I suspect he might give you a few opportunities to be angry at Casey. ?

Recruiters must see something because i have no idea why they would look at someone who hasn't played a game for one of the worst team for the past 2 years. In saying that after watching that footage he plays very similar to Brodie Smith from the Crows. Dashing half back that would suit our fast attacking style.

Il back Jason Taylor on this.

Brisbane's development is beyond woeful and hardly anyone there gets a decent run at it.  He has put on 8 kg in 2 years and needs to put on about 8 more before he can properly be judged.

I trust our development team to see what he may become over the next 2 years.  He may thrive in our environment with enthusiastic young teammates.

We can get him 'Free' as a DFA and we could do with a swing player.  No downside to taking him.

Surely Brisbane has just given up due to the fact he hasn't shown anything in 2 years (due to injury), they seem to have a plethora of young talls up in QLD, and the general reinvigoration of a list when a new coach is incoming.

I wouldn't put a line through the kid's name just yet. Leadership hasn't been provided to establish the right habits at the Lions. It's a bad place for any kid to end up at the moment.

Hard to read too much in to the highlights video but he looks pretty rangy and can do a bit overhead although it's not exactly packed with strong physical play.

What I like, and what we desperately need is a 3rd tall defender with the ability to run with the ball and hit targets. Not sure he's the greatest kick of all time either but he does look like he enjoys running with the ball and taking it on and using his foot skills.

Long term I think Frost and Oscar Mc should be fighting for 1 spot (or Tom's 2nd spot) and that we need a 3rd tall who can run and kick.

These are reasonable comments:

“We were pretty stiff,” Watts said.

“I won’t go into the details and I won’t say anything bad about the club.

“We will talk to other clubs and gauge the interest.

“I’m still pretty confident I might be on an AFL list by the end of the year. If not I will go to the VFL and have a crack there and try to get drafted again. I won’t be headed back to Tassie.”

Brisbane have McStay (194), Cutler (190), Gardiner (191), Harris Andrews (200cm), Sam Skinner (193) and Hammelman (197) cm by way of taller defenders on their list and they have to bring in 1 or 2 older guys to give some cover to those young guys.

In other spots if they were throwing out young players you'd probably think they are no good, but tall defenders might be different.

If he had any currency, we wouldn't they look to trade him?

Because he doesn't. Pick 70 odd who spends a lot of time injured, you aren't getting a pick for a player like that. Doesn't mean he isn't worth a spot on a list.

@Petraccattack was the one with the info.

Interested in their thoughts,

No real thoughts. My source is someone employed at an interstate club  I know nothing of the kid but his highlights video that was posted here.

Wouldnt mind taking the punt on him.  Seems he and a few of the other Lions kids werent happy with their treatment and lack of opportunity, so maybe theres something to work with.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
