Well that is a lesson for anyone who want's to pass on a trade whisper, on the trade whisper thread, don't, unless Stuie  thinks it is earth shattering

Did I tell you we're likely to get Hibberd?

Just hit 100 pages here. To celebrate I will paste the latest trade update for the Demons as per afl site

ASHLEY BROWNE: The Demons have been lurking quietly behind the scenes. Their best work came before the trade period started when they re-signed Jesse Hogan and reportedly they made a play for Hawthorn's Jordan Lewis. Gibbered is their main item of business, but it would not surprise if they stealthily made another move or two before 2pm next Thursday

Sounds like Gibberish to me.

Jack Steele officially a Saint.

They are saying it's for a future second rounder, which is about right for me.  When you consider we are trying to give up the same for Hibberd who has a proven track record of playing footy at it's highest level, I think it's looking like a good deal for us as well.

Yeah, both those values seem pretty fair. Would have to think the Hibberd delay is due to us having something specific in mind with this year's pick, whether it's a trade or a certain player. At first I thought it was more about spreading the incoming talent (2nd round this year, 1st round next year), but I'm not so sure now.

Yep.  Melbourne playing funny buggers on Hibberd when our second round pick would have got it done in the opening hour of trade week suggests more irons in the fire to me.

I agree Stuie, it looks like we are holding off not EFC. Hopefully we will be awe struck at Mahoney's brilliance and will need to erect a statue of him outside the G after our 4th straight premiership in 2021.

What, you don't give us a chance in 2017? ;)

With Lewis reportedly off the radar, are our sights sets maybe looking at bringing in Rockliff? I understand he has that toxicity nature surrounding him, but at the end of the day the question should be asked. Does he improve our chances of making finals next year? For me it's a yes.

Au contraire, it will take a year to erect the buttress.

Agreed. Steele and Stevens don't dramatically improve the Saints at all despite some of the media swooning.

Rumour up here in Qld is that the Saints are trying to offload Armitage (Qlder) to Suns/Lions for a good pick so that might explain the strategy.

Lewis is reportedly off the radar according to the Hawks PR machine, I'd read nothing into that though.

We were keen on having him, Lewis was obviously very keen to move. We've heard nothing from Lewis or his manager yet, I'd be keeping a close eye on it.

I think the saints are over estimating the quality of their youth. They look to be building a team that won't quite be good enough to take them all the way

we won't have given up on Lewis, i reckon the Hawks are just trying to get us to offer something they can use on O'meara

Yeah, just have a feeling Lewis will still get to us.

You know once you have made your mind up to leave , it's hard to go back.

Sam Mitchell basically traded for pick 88.

Wow.

Contracted legend of the club and current best and fairest gone for pick 88.

Just doesn't seem right and the way Hawks/Eagles have colluded is a little fishy.

Contract backended in coaching years to avoid player salary cap?

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
