Interesting but useless fact.

There are now no players names John in the entire list of AFL players

Without question he has the worst ball drop I've ever seen.

He is a horrible set shot.

His record is an anomaly.  He makes Hogan's technique look like Tony Lockett.

But more Jacks / Toms than you can poke a stick at.... any Robbies?

Because everybody who posts on here who played has a 100% record in front of goal    I hope the club isn't interested because I think we have enough fwd/ruck, not because he supposedly can't kick

Well Saty, I personally can attest to my absolutely perfect technique when kicking a ball.  Admittedly, I lack a degree of penetration, but over 20m I'm an absolute gun!

John is my cousin. Would love to see him in Demons colours!

Can someone list a top 15 draft pick from the last 10 years, that was delisted (not traded) within 4 and has come good at a second club?

Like his contested marking, but wonder if such a terrible kicking action can be rectified.

Half you blokes are saying you would take Joe Danaher or Clokey in front of Butcher. They have both kicked a truckload of points more than what he has.

Joe Daniher is a freak! Amazing marking skills, huge leap, takes the ball at its highest point... Bad form in front of goal, but mechanically looks okay and can be fixed.. If not could play further up the ground at CHF or even ruck as his field kicking is good.

Cloke is a role player with some deficiencies.. Both are miles ahead of Butcher!!

And a truckload more goals.

If goal kicking was Butcher's only problem he'd play regularly.

He doesn't have a lot of smarts, skills, defensive pressure or speed to be useful aside from taking grabs and having shots on goal.

The only way I'd be interested in him would be if there was a belief that he could be above average as a back up ruck and bring physicality and impact in that role to counter his ordinary conversion as a forward.

We've had enough Butchers for a lifetime.

A KPF capable of kicking 6 goals straight in a game at AFL level has a high ceiling.

Key talls with years in the system who are still young are more worthy of a gamble than any other type IMO, the payoff could be huge and the risk is non-existant if nothing is given up to get them.

And considering spots on the list are currently being filled by Casey regulars, I really can't see why Butcher is such a resounding 'no' to so many on here.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
